Howdy guys,

I have read the reports on Bilstein shocks, and can not seem to find a sight to buy them from. For a 2004.5 2500 HD, also I have bought the dual remote oil filtrations system from Amsoil where are you mounting them. Any tricks?
Any help would be appreciated from a new bee.

You can see my Truck Pics for the Bilstein part numbers... You can get them from almost any auto supply parts place... Can't help with the Amsoil question.........Triffid

And I most certainly appreciate the business. You'll be getting shipping details via email tomorrow when they ship!

Kenndy diesel. He is a good person to talk to about your truck and does a real nice job shpping them.

I mounted my dual Amsoil filters behind the crossmember that the torsion bars connect to on the driver side. I welded the mounting brackets to a flat piece of metal, then drilled holes in the frame and bolted. I couldn't find enough room closer to the engine to mount and I wanted to mount my filters vertically. I had to order some extra hose. I then secured the hose with clamps and cable ties to the frame and underbody. You will need about 2- 2.5 quarts extra to fill the filters. I also mounted the bracket high enough so the bottoms of my filters are a little higher than the bottom of the frame.

Kennedy's price is also very competitive on the bilsteins...not to mention I always like to support the vendors here.

Greg Landuyt sells a bracket he designed and has built to mount the Amsoil dual remote inboard of the frame forward of the torsion bar anchor. I mounted mine to the floorboard in about the same place. Works OK, but when oil is cold I get a whine at slow speeds inside the cab. I just tune it out and tell myself that someday I'll buy or build a bracket to mount to the frame and this should dampen out the whine.

Dirty Old Man. I mounted mine to the frame and I have the whine. Does your whine get louder with rpm's?

Kennedy !! How long are the Bilsteins warrantied for??? High mileage driver here, so i am sure the shocks will wear out befor my truck.

I originally mounted mine to the aluminun shield on the floorboard and had the same flow-noise whine. I purchased a bracket from Greg Landyut www.lubespecialist.com and remounted to the frame (although I did modify my mount a bit to raise it up a bit higher and center the cartridges between the torsion bar and front drive axle). I have no noise from the frame mounting. Pictures are in the PICS link below.

Bilstein has lifetime warranty to the original purchaser/vehicle.

Waranty claims are few and far between with these shocks as the claim to fame IIRC is that they maintain 98% of their valving effectiveness for over 100k miles...
