How do you tighten up the inserts? That the west coast mirrors screw in to.

Use a bolt that will fit the nut-sert, with a nut already threaded onto the bolt. Thread the bolt halfway into the nut-sert, then use one wrench to turn the nut back into the nut-sert (loosening), while holding the bolt still. This will crimp the nut-sert tighter.

I made a tool from an unused mirror bracket. I have filed serrations (grooves) into the back side of the bracket that faces the nutsert. I screw a bolt with a plastic washer through the afore-mentioned tool and into the nutsert. Tighten the bolt while holding the tool to compress the nutsert in the pre-drilled hole. The plastic washer keeps the bolt from binding and chewing up the tool. The serrations keep the nutsert from turning. The tool allows you to turn or position the nutsert as it comes up tight. This tool work wonders when you have to replace a stripped (read "overtightened") nutsert and don't want to remove the whole mirror and all the bolts/brackets.
