I'm looking at buying a 1/2 ton GMC Sierra repairable which was rolled on it's side. What I'm concerned with is, did the engine shut off soon to cause no damage or? Does the computer have logic to sense low/no oil and shut down?

I would imagine that as soon as it tipped, the fuel pump lost prime and the engine died. I wouldn't think it could run more than a few seconds after that. Probably no more harm than dry startup after replacing the oil filter at an oil change.
