Today I was merging on the freeway at half throttle and it went to shift into fith then it went back to fourth and would not shift into fith and the check engine light came on. I pulled over shut it off started it again and it is shifting fine but the light wont go out. I am running the 90horse setting on my bullydog tripledog. I checked and it is throwing above mentioned codes and i found out their tech meaning. I am not sure what they actually mean though, did I just have a dreaded "trannylimp" or is it something else, I still have warranty but I would like to be educated before i take it to GM. Any help would be great guys, thanks

You need to get the trans codes read. what you posted are only ECM codes.

That was the dreaded tranny limp, Sorry :(. Same thing happened to me about a year ago. The P0700 means that you have codes in the TCM and a programmer won't clear it, you'll have to use a tech 2 to do that. If you take it to the dealer and tell them you limped it the first thing they are going to do is give 20 questions about a programmer so you might as well get ready to bend over and take it.

Yup, tranny limp. Mine did the same thing pulling a little trailer with a 454 motor on it, go to pass and BOOM!!!! Same exact conditions you described. No worries though, SC IV w/ 1058 goes in Friday.

In your situation though, I'd back the power down or return to stock tuning. Regardless, I'd start saving for a trans rebuild in the future!

Sounds like a limp like everyone else said. The P1621 is "Control Module Long Term Memory Performance".

Incorrect gear ratio means tranny limp 99.9% of the time

well shit. thanks for the replies guys. If i leave it on the 40hp tune do you think it will survive a trip over the mountains to the okanogan with a 6000lb trailer? I really dont want to upgrade the tranny yet, unless i have to. Maybe i will put it back to stock, take it to the dealer and tell them what it did, and of coarse deny using the programmer other than to correct the speedo, it still has bumper to bumper warranty. Pretty sneaky i am!
