The amp i currently have is about to take a shit so im in the market for a good replacement. It needs enough to power for a 12 JL audio sub and maybe my front speakers if i set it up the same as the one i have now. I currently have a 650 watt power accoustic. I dont have a huge budget but im not looking for anything crappy by any means. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I have the perfect amp for you. Its a kicker zx700.5 its rated at 85 watts RMS for the 4 channels, and 420 watts RMS for the sub channel.
Kicker underrates their amps, the birth sheet says 916 watts RMS, for the whole amp. Its probally seeing 100 watts for the 4 channels and 500 watts for the sub. its brand new in the package, Ill give it to you for $180 shipped.

Pm me :)

And there's a reason for that. I have two JL Audio 10W1 v2-4's with a Rockford T5001bd which is rated at 500 watts but actually puts out just under 1000. Rocks on pretty nice. :D

That Kicker 700.5 is a nice amp, but the owner of this thread never specified which JL woofer he has. There are several different ones, then different impedances, and that's the most important part.

I can say that anything that was recommended in this thread is gonna be a lot better than a Power Acoustic.

I like JL amps. Kicker, and MTX also have good amps.

Im leaning towards either a JL or kicker amp. Im pretty sure the sub i have now is a W3v3. I thought it was a W6 but i cant really remember. Ive had several JL subs before. Just to be sure, i should just stick with a 4 channel correct?, Im fairly posetive thats what i have now.

You already made a great decision and bought the best subs (JL) Why not continue the winning streak and buy the best amp too? If jl says 500...it'll put out 500....clean as a whistle, impedance and input voltage be damned. Spend the money, buy the JL and be done with it. -Murph

You still haven't said what the impedance is. Depending on that, 500/1 would be the first choice, and you only want a 4-channel amp for the mids and highs. Mono amp for subs.

impedance = ohm. It should be a dual 2 ohm, dual 4 ohm, or dual 8 ohm voice coil.

Hey Jony, I have an older kicker ZR 240 thats been sitting in my closet, I feel dumb asking but i forget what the rating is on this amp (been a while) i used it for two comp 10's. Do you happen to know what the rating is on this amp, i'd like to put a single JL 10 in my truck. What series JL 10'' do you reccomend?-thanks.

Go for the JL Amps due to the Unregulated Power Supply (it will put out the same amount of watts at 11v as it would at 14v) and the same goes for the Ohms. It will put out the same power @1ohm as it does @4ohms

If you want the absolute BEST you can have go for Zapco C2K's (what I run), DLS, Audison, Brax, Helix, Tru, Sinfoni.

60X2 @ 4 ohms. That amp would be fine and if you want JL 10's, I'd go with 10W0's in 4 ohm. 2 ohm mono (which is what the 2 4 ohm woofers would be in parallel) would be about 250W.

Thanks man!!:) Is there a different woofer you might reccomend instead of the JL's?

Those are my first choice. Kicker woofer's are pretty decent too.
