My windows fog easily for some reason this winter. In the past they would stay clear when I left the climate control locked in, but now I find myself needing to use the defrost. Why might this be?

you might have a leak that's allowing a small amount of moisture in. I have the same problem, only when it rains and found a puddle of water on the passenger side floor. GM swears there's no leak but only time there's water there is when it rains. sometimes I wonder what the service writers need to hear to believe something. :(

Try driving with the windows cracked slightly and it should allow the humidity out, also get a bag of desicant and put it somewhere that you can hang it and it will absorb the moisture if any is still present, it is the same stuff they put in packages or air lines cartridges to remove moisture.

Also pay attention to door and window seals and try closing the vent to recirculate for a while.

I used to store my classics with the windows rolled up and the desicant inside to keep everything good.

Warm moist air in the cockpit and cold air ouside and condensation is the result. Like a nice iced bourbon and water sitting on bar gets wet on the outside of the glass. The defroster blows some cold dehumidified air up your windscreen and evaps the accumulated condensation.

Does your auto climate control have the snowflake icon on? If not your windows will fog very easily.

My only other thought would be a bad heater core. Hopefully not the case.

The makers of rain-x make something called antifog-x I use it on my truck so that I don't have to use the defrost. It works well but I do end up having to use the defrost if I get three or four skiers in the truck after a hard day of skiing.

I had a similar problem with autoclimate on my 01 GMC.

Is cold air blowing out of the defrost? If so, try putting the heat selctor on full blast.

See what happens.

It isn't something simple like the recycle turned on?

Am I nuts but does your guys windos seem to develope a mung on the inside quicker than most cars youve owned that requires more frequent cleaning of the inside of the windows? Almost like its a smokers car? Maybe its the open breather letting an oily air into the cab and since I run my defroster most of the time? This mung seems to make a foggy window or partialy foggy window even worse.

I've noticed this too ...and I'm nearly certain it's a result of the A/C. If I leave my climate control in "Auto" mode where A/C runs all the time I get the foggy crap on the inside of my windows ...I found if I don't run A/C I don't get the crap on the windows ...which is why I now override the climate control and turn off the A/C unless I absolutely need it. If I start to fog I crack my window ... funny I know but I like clean windows and hate cleaning them, especially the front.

Thanks for all the input....I will try a few of these suggestions. I suppose it is a bit colder than what we usually see, at least for us mild climate Northwesterners. Just don't remember having this trouble previous winters.

funny because the other day my wife and me were driving and the side windows were half open, she said her feet were so cold that she had to sit on them, everytime i went to the floor, the winsheild closed up completly, it was only -23 degress, later in the day she grabed for her shoes and said this panel is very very cold, i felt it and it felt like well below 0(just above her feet), i must say the heater in gm diesels stink if this is the best, my dealer said he has had a few complaints, but does not have a fix

I have a reg cab.......once I get it warm it will roast me out if I leave it on hot and turn the blower off so its just the hot air seaping in. I ussually leave the controll on defrost and the blower off so the air just seaps onto the window. Maybe the air/heat isnt good enough for the bigger cabs? My reg cab will freeze or cook me out depending if I let it.......

Very easy solution to the windows fogging.

TURN ON THE AC, IT WILL REMOVE THE MOISTURE.
