Ok, I have pinpointed my rattle thanks to the Remote start installer. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif The question that I have is about the setup of the stuff over the steering column (by your knees). I have had a few of the older trucks (2001 & 2002)apart and know that there is a metal plate over the steering column area on those. Well, I pulled my molding or panel off whatever you want to call it and that plate isn't there on my truck anymore. I don't know if it still there on the 2004s, but I'm guessing it is a pretty safe bet it is. Anyway, when I pulled off the molding, that plate and the 4 nuts were never reinstalled. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/censored.gif Question is, if the place that installed my remote start doesn't still have the parts that I am missing, how could I get it? I got the remote start installed in september and the rattle has just finally started to drive me crazy. I will try and milk the installer for everything I can, but I just wanted something else to fall back on if they can't give me the plate and 4 nuts. Thanks for any replies on this.

Yes that plate is supposed to be there. Go back to your remote starter installer and insist that they find it or buy you a new one.

Your other options are order a new one from a GM dealer or find one off of a wreck.

I don't think it servers any other purpose other then to protect the wiring from your knee in a crash.
