I live in a cold weather climate, have a 6.5 that starts good, but doesnt have alot of power. My timing is set around 3.5, could a person bump the timing up or will there have to be more mods. Possibly something with the waste gate. Can a person get the turbo to spool up faster any way. Thanks.

You didn't specify what year model, so I'm going to assume you have a 94+ with the electronic pump.
Did you all the sudden lose power or has it always been lacking?
Do you have any gauges on the truck? You seem unsatisfied with your turbo spool rate so I assume you must have some instrumentation.
Since you've already checked your timing, I assume you've had a scanner on the vehicle and have no trouble codes since you didn't mention any.
Have you checked your supply pressure/fuel filter? Try some fuel additive with lubricity and cetane improvers.
Also, check your vacuum pump to make sure your getting sufficient vacuum to operate the wastegate, and make sure the Wastegate solenoid is operating properly and the lines aren't cracked anywhere.
If you haven't upgraded your exhaust, thats the best place to start for quick improvement for power and quicker turbo spool.
Good idea to pull the boot off the turbo and inspect the fins for wear/chips. If its worn or has excessive play.
How many miles are on the truck? What was the last service you did or had done to it? Injectors ever been replaced?

My truck is a 95 K3500 with 4.10 gears. I have recently had a pump installed under warranty. Is it normal to have to run the truck higher in the RPM,s to achieve any power. Thanks

you could move the pump to the driverside 2.5mm and do the manual tdcol procedure or have it done by GM on the techII and set TDCoffset -1.94 deg thru -1.5 deg btdc. Remove the intake and exhaust resrtictions, jack the boost with your choice of methods ( pay $100+ or do it yourself).

Welcome to the forum go to FAQs above MANY of your initial questions are found there. Timing needs to be set with a tech 2, TDC offset on OBDI can only be reset with a T2 compliant tool.

Kennedy was just writing that only OBDI tdcol could be done manually, Me thinks I don't know much beyond my own experience and somehow I've managed to do it on both OBDII and OBDI, although I have yet to hook the '96 up to a scantool and read the numbers.

As far as I know OBDI does not have ability to learn with key on, key off to floor to initiate the learn, that function came in with OBDII it is how I do it with a Snap On scanner on my truck, use the scanner to read value and pedal to floor to initiate the learn sequence.
