I just picked up my new 05 3500 utility truck, and noticed my oil pressure at idle at just under 30psi, and at 2200 rpm it is about 60psi? I traded in an 02 duramax and I never had under 80 psi an an idle, and when it did drop under 80 psi I knew my oil was shot! I checked the level and it was ok but it did smell like diesel!

What kind of oil pressure is everyone getting with there LLYs?

yep same here, scary at first, huh?
right below 30 @ idle, and 70mph on cruise right below 60 or right at.

Ok ! 30 psi is scary. I wonder what she will have at 100,000 miles?

Every gas engine I ever built had over 50 psi, and like i said my 02 duramax never droped below 80psi!

Put gear oil in it. Then you will be 80+ :D My point is, pressure isn't everything.

volume is better than pressure..to a certain degree..my lly does the same pressures, it's all good

I have 107,000 on my Duramax. At idle when warm, it stays between 45-55psi. With
a load on the engine, 65-70 psi. When cold, 80psi plus. I also run Royal Purple 15w-40
for better oil flow.

I also see less than 30 psi hot at idle. Cold around 90 psi.

Just under 30psi here at idle and around 60psi at 2100...normal...I was once told "just drive it"! because I worried to much also

On the stock guage my 01 runs a little over 80 all the time, my 04 LLy is the same as all you are describing. I drove it on the test drive when it came in and took it to the service dept. before I purchased it as I noticed it right away, they said that was one of many changes from the LB7 to the LLY.

My 01 has over 255,000 on it and the pressure is still the same.:ro)
