: Lly Reflash Poll
JJs DuMax 01-11-2005, 05:39 PM We're having lots of discussion on whether the reflash(s) out for the LLY are correcting problems or creating them. Some claim a loss of power and towing capacity while others claim more power and towing capacity? Typical DP stuff! ):h
If you have had your LLY reflashed please take a moment to complete the poll. This will give other LLY owners the opportunity to survey the responses and decide whether they want it done or not. JJ :)
JJs DuMax 01-11-2005, 05:43 PM Wow, 100% positive already? Guess who! JJ
RickDLance 01-11-2005, 05:45 PM JJ, you need more options. My power did not change. My engine got noisier, but my mileage got a hair better. It also seems to have stopped my overheating, but summer will tell.
NCMIC 01-11-2005, 05:54 PM I don't know if I can actually say that the power increased. I did, however, receive a better sense of response from the truck creating the feeling of a power increase. Mine was quieter and mpg had a slight increase.
I was watching the tech as he did mine, downloading information onto the tech 2 and then going to the satellite for the download. He then saw the flash information and downloaded back to his programmer. Then he went to my truck and re-programmed it. I'm not saying that the tech, that performed your reflash, was doing something worng, but I would say probably go back and get another flash, just to make sure. Maybe something happened with the download, if you are having issues.
briano 01-11-2005, 05:58 PM very happy with mine...smoother, feels more powerful..or is running like it should basically. The mileage seems to be the same at this point.
tbone1227 01-11-2005, 10:32 PM Rick, funny you should mention those 2 points, engine noise and temp, as ive noticed that as well, its just slightly noisier and nothing really but what really gets me is that it runs soooo coool now ? ill have to wait for the warm heat to get a better idea though.
JJs DuMax 01-12-2005, 07:42 AM I don't know how to modify the poll. Basically there are 3 selections: VS, S, DS. The additional info are examples of a particular level. Sorry for any confusion. JJ
JJs DuMax 01-14-2005, 09:20 AM Quick bump to keep the poll on the radar screen. JJ
JJs DuMax 01-18-2005, 09:15 PM Mid-Poll update: 86% positive feedback! :ro) If you've reflashed please complete the poll. Lots of discussion going on about whether the LLY reflash takes power away. Honest feedback requested. JJ :)
snowsdog 01-19-2005, 09:02 AM Well I had mine done yesterday, and will be taking it back today, I now have surging at 1100 to 1200 rmps, which was at 800 to 1000. Also I now have a loud drone sound coming from the right side of the truck at 60 MPH and higher "sounds like a tire humm only three times as loud" and I have the stock street tires on it. I also noticed that the DIC mileage is way off "will verify by hand" normally on my 30 mile drive to work this winter it will show around 16 MPG, verified by hand. last night and this mornign it is showing 18.7 MPG - I have never got that good, not in the summer on the highway cruising 65 only got 18.5. I did verify that the odometer is correct was concerned that it may be off now as well. I did not see any change in operating temp, and the truck seems to work harder when you step on it trying to accelarate.-:t
Snowdog, you got the same reflash as me. Bummer. Wasn't able to reload old stuff. GM told me no cure yet 5mons. ago, but still working on it. Wish we were closer together so comparisons could be done and we could get the great reflash (with more hp., torque, and fuel mileage) the others are getting. thanx geo.
JJs DuMax 01-19-2005, 10:38 AM Sumpins up! 86% positive results on LLY reflash poll. :o Make sure the dealer has the latest reflash, several have posted that the dealers tech II's weren't up-to-date. This has to be very frustrating for those encountering performance degradation. Don't know what else to say? Hope it gets better. JJ :)
Grabs 01-19-2005, 11:22 AM I have the noise at 60MPH too!! Damn that is annoying and I can figure out what it is. I actually have to say that this may be from the Intercooler hose replacement. I think I noticed it first after this was done, but I can't say for sure. My reflash and the intercooler hose replacement were done on different visits.
My truck does seem to be a bit sluggish now then it was before, but then again it is also colder out now then it was before, but the operating temps are still the same.
The dealer did say that there was a whole list of things that this reflash was suppose to fix, but his printer wasn't working that day to give me a print out. Does anyone have a copy of these fixes?
JJs DuMax 01-21-2005, 09:04 PM Anybody else? JJ
JJs DuMax 01-25-2005, 09:32 PM Reflash poll completed. Note over 900 views, only 77 posted. Interesting? JJ :)
Slide 01-26-2005, 10:24 AM Several of those views are mine without any post. Have been watching this with interest since I tend to run toward the low end of the mileage, although not bad considering my last vehicle was a 95 C3500 with 454. I have been waiting till I go in for my first service to get the reflash which is this afternoon. Hope I am one of the extremely satisfied. :o
lbz492 01-26-2005, 10:30 AM i had mine reflashed and it seems to be working well. at least i havn't noticed any of the problems that i had before the flash
mahalkita 01-26-2005, 12:35 PM Had mine checked out today. Technician said I had already the latest SW. I gave him the printout from the GM website with the correct module SW according to my VIN and he checked all out and said they are exactly the same in the PCM than on the paper I gave him. I could not see what he was doing because they don't allow people in the shop.
My truck has the drone sound between 1500...2000 RPM which I don't like. This was the second time I went for that reflash with the same result. The technician also wrote on the ticket that he attempted to download SW but it did not start the download because the latest SW was already present - is that true?
I drove a new truck (built 11/04) from the lot to compare and it had the same drone sound between 1500....2000 RPM. I could swear the older 2004.5 LLY and the much older LB7 I test drove was smoother - or I am getting crazy over this! Don't know what to think anymore but I am NOT really happy with the truck as is because of the noise. I will try to address this with a new PCM (tts) and another exhaust, hope that will help. To me the drone sound I am hearing sounds a lot like a damping noise somewhere close to the turbo....had a similar noise on my Landcruiser from the turbo damper which was amplified by the EGR. I removed my EGR (plug) on my LLY but without success. The truck heats up too slow, so I plugged the EGR back for now.
JJs DuMax 01-26-2005, 04:10 PM mahalkita, those kinds of noises will drive you to drink! If you are sitting still and rev the engine up do you hear it or does the truck have to be moving? Exhaust are notorious for creating funky sounds. Is there a similar sound you can describe to help us narrow this down? JJ :)
mahalkita 01-26-2005, 05:02 PM JJ,
I can hear the noise also when the car is sitting still and I am reving it up to approx. 1700 rpm (and I am not drunk). When I accelerate or decelerate I can hear the noise the most and when the truck is cold it is more pronounced than when warm. To me it sounds almost like a fan - thats what I was thinking when the temps were a bit warmer than now... I will try to check the damper on top of the air intake (turbo) - remove it.. The noise sounds as if coming from the engine compartment
joe496chevy 01-26-2005, 07:44 PM what is the date that the reflash came through on the production trucks?
