damn rats anyways. i'm having my own rat issue. seems they tore up some of the extra insulation on my truck and made a bed between the fuel filter and w/g solenoid. gonna stick a rat trap on my engine or at least some razor blades on my next day off. Ed

ROFL... about a year ago, somebody was trying to fogure out why his IP kept tossing codes... when he went looking for poor grounds, he found something very similar to that nest, and the grim remains of his wiring harness, too.

I love the pics... thanks for posting! The squirrels around here haul pine cones up under mine, but I've always caught them before they got a chance to settle in for the winter. Clean out the nest, toss in a few mothballs and put the cover back on. They'll stay away until the mothballs disappear... they can't hack the smell up close.

Got to watch them rodents:eek:
Had a car come into the shop a few months back with a no start condition.
Found about 10 different locations where something chewed through the wires under the hood.

I took mint-condition "Turbo Power" covers off both the 'burb and the Tahoe, and just recycled them a couple of weeks ago. I really can't fathom why GM spent the time and money to make those covers other than to make the engine look prettier. I think the term 'dress up cover' is pretty appropriate. I just didn't see the need. I hope I didn't do something dumb, but they were hogging up room in the garage, and it just seemed to be useless. I always need to take the silly things off when checking or servicing the engine, so I just took 'em off and kept 'em off.

Thanks,

Rob :)

Should have sold 'em on fleabay. Surely there's SOMEBODY who just bought a used 6.5 that somebody (ie you) took the turbo-power cover off and recycled it, and now they're desperately searching for a replacement, all the while cussing out the "dumb former owner".

Let 'em buy yours! It'll take 2 years for them to figure out they need to take it off, and then they can sell it to some other new guy.

It's the circle of life, Dress-up-cover style.

Geees You get them in the states too? I didn't know they were so popular.
They were "made" in Australia, resulting in crossing of Australian Dingos and Dalmatians.
They are seldom used in Australian bush and in New Caledonia by people growing cattle.
Excellent workers, usually agressive , they hate rats and strangers but love their owners.
These are dogs who usually obey to one master only.

We get the "red" pattern too.

Usually, when we own one and go to the city or village, we put it in the bed or in the cabin (with open windows of course) and we can left the truck in the parking, with peace of mind. We know nobody will ever think about touching the truck :D

Blue healers can be miserable pr**ks. A friend had one. one day we were drinking beer on the endgate of his truck and his dog was between us and I was feeding him beer. Eventually he fell against me, looked up at me and growled. And he more or less liked me.lol Leo

Well I'll be darned. The things you learn on the 6.5 forum. I always thought it was "blue heeler". And I never knew they were like an Australian Cattledog. For some reason I thought they were a hound, like those southern boys use to chase small animals up trees then bark at them. Like a Plott or a Bluetick.
My brother in law has an Autralian Cattledog. I wonder if he's a Blue Healer? He has a great personality, very calm, friendly and easygoing. All their other dogs are yappy little dogs and one big mean Shepherd. I like that Cattledog the best out of all them. I feel bad for him cause he never gets the attention the showdogs get. Probably because he doesn't assert himself. Or maybe it's because he is butt-ugly. He's so ugly you just gotta like him. He looks more like Mad Maxs dog than Steelys.
Thanks for the education!

Mine has the opposite effect. She makes friends everywhere I go. The other day I was having breakfast in the diner, everytime I looked out the window somebody was going up to the truck and petting her. That's fine with me. I have nothing of value in the truck (except her). I'd rather have her making friends than biting people and getting me sued.

We have 'em in the US, but I don't think I've ever seen one personally. I grew up in NYC, which is about as far from farm country as you can get, so that's probably why.

And I know what you mean about the house being safe, we have 2 German Shepherds and a wireless fence, so there's no visible barrier between you and them :D . The female barks at EVERYTHING (wow, what a surprise). Shannon on the left and McDuff on the right -

Heelers are real popular in my parts, especially with the horse crowd...My bro has two, one blue and one red.... "Australian cattledog" IS a blue heeler.
Heeler and australian shepherd is a popular mix.
I like my doberman though!! Nobody gets close enough to the truck to see if hes friendly or mean:D

Well, I googled blue healer and found tons of pictures and websites for the dog with it spelled "healer", so I figured I was wrong all along. Just googled it spelled the right way and found a million sites. So I guess I was wrong but I wasn't, only I was wrong after I changed my mind to agree with a misprint. So now I know just what I thought before, only I don't feel any smarter for having learned what I already knew.

The cover is off of my '94 because I'm running a PMD cooler that bolts to the intake. I've seen them with a hole cut in it for the cooler and it looks OK, but I was planning to get an extension harness and reinstall the cover later. I say 'was' becasue I'm going to be selling that truck soon. Gotta fund the 18:1 for my '99! That truck's cover will be customized and re-used when the low comp. engine is installed!
