There is no reason why this truck should not have the 6.6 in it. Its 3/4 ton and its heavier then a pickup. Im not sure what GM is thinking here.

the 2500 suburban is not the same as a 2500hd pickup truck.

the 4.5 will be perfect in the 2500 suburban, 6.6 is too big, requires the allison, and it is only certified for vehicles over 8600 gvwr.

I thinks it's becuase of that whole improving fuel mileage thing. Key word, think, not an expert just guessing.
