As seems to be a frequest problem with recent GMC trucks, my speedometer is malfunctioning. I understand the problem to be with the stepper motors. Ratyher than pay the $570 I was quoted from the dealer, I was going to replace the motor myself. I am looking for any links or information on removing the cluster and replacing the motor. Also, is recalibration necessary, or might there ba a way of avoiding that. Thanks for any help you can provide.

There is a DIY that shows how to do it! ALso there is someone on eBay that does it for something like $150. GM will do for vehicles under 70,000 don't know the time factor. Search gage repair. However, all stepper motors need to be replaced when you have it apart!:)

I highly recommend you replace all 7 motors while you're in there. Just makes sense that way.
