My local diesel performance parts dealer is suggesting that I buy one of these AFE stage 3 kits. I told him about what I had read on here regarding the inefficiencies of cold air intakes on LMM's. He called whoever sells these things to him and they reported 7-8 hp gains with "no fan" blowing while on the dyno. My question is, are they telling me the truth or just trying to sell this thing to me?

I am hesitant to mess with the intake because supposedly banks is the only one who has designed their intake around the sensitive maf even though theirs is still an oiled filter.

Any suggestions?

I think most companies designed their intakes around MAF's these days. LB7's had problems, LLY's had problems, LBZ's had problems and LMM's had problems. So it isnt LMM specific as to the model year. They've all had to reposition the sensor so that it dosent trip the CEL.

I run an S&B and its a nice system. You dont gain anything by them but maybe some mileage.
