Very interesting. Now let's see WHEN this light comes on...
skoryaro2 01-11-2005, 10:26 AM I take it that's "new software" that requires another reflash update. Wnder how it's reset upon changing?? I'm sure more to follow.........
Oilbrnr 01-11-2005, 01:08 PM Hmm, how new is this? My '05 was built 12/14/04 and I don't have that in my DIC.
(I always think of Beavis & Butthead when I make a DIC post. "Hee, hee, he said DIC!") :p
_nar_ 01-11-2005, 09:55 PM It may be something based on resriction in the fuel line or rail pressure.... Hard to say what makes it say that.. Might just come on every 15k.
Kennedy 01-12-2005, 06:31 PM Instaled the update, but I got a "batttery not charging" message on the DIC and a PO622. Thankfully, I have my own TIS setup which is CD driven and a month behind so I had the old calibration available. I reloaded it and the code/messge cleared. I'll wait and see if anything develops on the GM side before I try again...
aegis 01-12-2005, 06:55 PM Hey Kennedy I am getting the "battery not charging" I have had the truck to the dealer and it IS charging... I am not getting any trouble codes. How do I get this to clear. I am running the Predator.
Kennedy 01-12-2005, 07:07 PM Mine went off when I reprogrammed the OLD stock calibration with the GM program on my Tech 2.
aegis 01-12-2005, 07:46 PM I don't really see this a a big deal. I checked both batts and they are charging. It seems to happen whe the key is turned to the on postion and if you wait a few seconds before turning the engine over. If the engine is warm and you start right away I don't get the message. Kinda odd. I assumed it has to do with the initial drain and the glow plugs. I am charging both batts showing 14 volts.
dmaxalliTech 01-12-2005, 10:44 PM the battery not charging message is considered normal at start up under some conditions
In the cold weather, with the heaters/glow plugs working, it pulls the batteries hard enough to trigger the light. After the alt kicks in, its overridden
Mine has done that nearly every morning in the winter
Kennedy 01-13-2005, 12:54 PM Mine never went off until I reprogrammed, but I only drove it a few miles. Didn't have time to chance that there was a problem so I swapped it out...
UncleFester 01-13-2005, 07:57 PM Instaled the update, but I got a "batttery not charging" message on the DIC and a PO622. Thankfully, I have my own TIS setup which is CD driven and a month behind so I had the old calibration available. I reloaded it and the code/messge cleared. Kennedy:
I just took my 05 LLY to the dealer yesterday for a few things - including a firmware update. I told them I wanted the versions, but don't have them yet cuz the paperwork is still open. After the update - the Battery light came on with the DIC message. They called GM and GM assured them that the 2 are UNRELATED. (yeah, right.) They are ordering a new BCM thinking that might be the problem. I picked the truck up new in Sept - have 14k+ on it right now. This is the first indication of any problems... :D
any thoughts/ideas?
Kennedy 01-14-2005, 09:55 AM Uncle Fester has been known to carry quite an electrical charge, so you never know what effect this could have on the sensitive electronics of a dash!):h
Serioulsy though, if the BCM fixes it let us know. I doubt it. I do have to wonder though if there may be some other updates for other modules that must be applied with this update. There is no notation, but you never know.
Mine was cured when I programmed back to the old calibration, BUT the programming system cannot do this without getting a VCI override. My data disc is behind so I have the old program. I could always do it if you stopped by.
I'm actually glad someone else had this problem so hopefully GM will investigate as I believe it to be a bug as a result of the DIC fuel filter update. I'm waiting a bit as I did my own update. Next time I'll have Domine's do it so that they can follow up on it...
_nar_ 01-14-2005, 07:31 PM Grumble. This means now if I go to get the other reflash then I will get this one too right?
So now I can't go get the reflash because I don't want both.. Great.
Kennedy 01-15-2005, 12:39 PM AFAIK, there is no DIC update available for the 2004 models...
Kennedy 01-16-2005, 10:25 AM There's a brief bulletin on this. Rather than post copyrighted info, I'll cut to the chase. It says call Techline. Be sure to let us know what Techline tells your technician. I'm assuming the quick fix is to release the previous calibration so the bug can be removed...
Kennedy 01-23-2005, 05:48 PM Last I checked, the subject calibration was no longer listed...
