Has anyone tried to swap the 36 (I think) gallon tank from a long bed into a short bed truck? I am thinking I might be able to find that tank cheaper at a junk yard than the cost of an aftermarket tank.

Yeah, if you want bigger you have to suck it up and do an aftermarket one. I'm in the same boat as you...want the bigger tank, just find it hard to justify $1k for it.

The tanks are molded to fit the available space under the bed. If the 35 gallon tank would fit, it would be in there OEM. Sorry.
