How can I change the lower fuel filter on my Ford. The top was easy.

you need the following things:

1 3/8" socket
5/8" socket ratchet
7mm hex drive
fresh filter and o-ring

first drain fuel filter assembly using 7mm hex tool.
then use socket and rachet to remove black plastic cover
remove old filter and o-ring

replace o-ring after you apply fresh diesel
install new filter and replace plastic cover, be sure not to over tighten
replace drain plug using 7mm hex tool, be sure not to over tighten.
turn key on, do not start and inspect or leaks.

CAUTION: drain plug strips VERY EASY, at least the 03 model did.

you don't really need the 1 3/8" socket, but it makes the job so much easier.

PS. lower filter is the water seperator, and is located on driver's side frame rail on the inside. If you have a 4x4 truck it will be located very near the transfer case.
