: Abusive Dmax driver
Dmaxtodd 01-31-2008, 10:53 PM Yesterday while fueling up our 02 Dodge aka "The Tanker" I noticed a Dmax rolls in to fuel up, this thing is blowing a lot of white smoke and there is obviously diesel/oil coating all over the tailgate. I mention to the guy that he might want to get the injectors checked since he might ruin the motor if he is running on a diesel/oil mix he claimed he was aware that Gm has extended the warranty and if the motor locks up they will pay for it?? You can lead a horse to water but......looks like truck abuse to me...a shame. maybe he would have took my advice had I been driving my Dmax?
Jasondt2001 01-31-2008, 10:56 PM I dont think they'll cover the piston, there's a guy on here that was going through that... Some people... He'll feel his procrastination in the end...
JD4440 01-31-2008, 10:58 PM does he really think the whole engine is covered under the extended injector warranty ??????
WanaDmxsub 01-31-2008, 11:56 PM What do you bet...with-in a month he will be in here complaining about GM and his dealer...
cumminstrokethi 01-31-2008, 11:59 PM What do you bet...with-in a month he will be in here complaining about GM and his dealer...
:exactly:
And that's what gives the diesels bad names when someone like him rolls up blowin' all that smoke

We were taught to make 'em last, 'cause when I grew up Dad never owned a new one, couldn't afford it, we always maintain 'em and made sure they's last as long as possible. Too many kids now-a-days grew up in a throw away world. just my 2cents
j gardner 02-01-2008, 12:27 PM i do believe the kids learn that in school some times i had a hard time conincing my two boys that new is not always better they woud come back with this book or this teacher said and then it would start i guess i won as they both are frugal and their wifes hate it lol

I am the same way. If I hear anything out of the ordinary I search and pray nothing is broken and I run mine nice and easy all the time. The only time it gets run pretty hard and good is when I am pulling a load and that is just because you have too.
1LTREATR 02-01-2008, 05:58 PM ha DUMB KIDS! oh wait the author didnt say how old the guy was... anyway yea im 21...had to buy my own truck, paying for it yadda yadda.... Dad always told me id take better care of it if Im paying for it on my own.
sparky1562 02-01-2008, 08:17 PM if the motor locks up they will pay for it??
Yeah, that's the new "Idiot blew the motor Special Policy". Didn't you get your letter? :p:
nmband13 02-01-2008, 08:19 PM I'm 20 yrs old and owned a s10 Zr2 for three yrs, I abused the zr2 too much and had to pay for the numerous repair bills, I learned at about 19 that i should take it easy to make my toys last. Now that I'm 20 I take it easy on my new duramax, its stock now but its getting an Oil bypass system, 2micron fuel filter as soon as its warm out, then 5in exhaust and a hypertech, nothing too major or anything. I need this truck to last me, and without major bills. oh btw I pay for my own things, no handouts given to me.
sparky1562 02-01-2008, 09:17 PM When I was 20, I was driving a rusted out 69 VW! Lucky brats!:D
cuffnup 02-01-2008, 09:57 PM hopefully he is also too dumb to sign in here and complain about how bad the duramax is...moran:D

yep, thats us! 21 here. got it at 19. the only thing i hate about this truck, is the payments.(on my own, mind you.) especially being an electrician, just about to get my license, working residential. looks like were slowing down again. last time that happend to us, it hurt. bad. thinkin of getting a second job. i dont care. i wont give up my truck. i love it, and i worked to hard to get it.
Ken
Dmaxtodd 02-03-2008, 11:15 PM The guy driving the smoking truck in question (appeared to be an 03 LB7) was maybe 35-40 and I am 28 go figure, but I have always took care of my equipment and some say I am a truck hypochondriac. Anyway I just got back from hauling a load of barn beams from the pittsburgh area and my truck is running great. Anyone notice the truck running way stronger after unhooking from a heavy load?

My dad also told me i'd be nicer to things if i paid for them also...i had a '96 chev half ton and beat the piss out of it cuz i didnt pay for it and it went to hell in a matter of two years...now that i purchased an '03 CC/SB D/A i am nice to it and take great care of it...i hear a noise u bet i pull over and find out what it is.
kasl33 02-03-2008, 11:55 PM Some people just don't learn until it's too late.
I was in San Diego last week and decided to revisit my old play area at fiesta island. I played around in the sand for about 10 minutes to see if I could get my truck stuck (couldn't, not even in two wheel drive with this dually). It was the first time in 25,000 miles I had played in my truck and will most likely be the last. The sand was probably pretty easy on the truck, but I felt so bad thinking how hard the truck was working and bouncing around - but it is nothing compared to what I see some doing out there.
I baby my truck as well (and as mentioned before, with the exception I have to work it hard with my trailer load). One weird feeling or sound and I am playing detective.
02DuramaxHD 02-04-2008, 11:50 AM i'm 22 and i got my truck last year on my own. My parents fronted me the money for my transfer case when it went out but i had to pay them back. Believe it or not this is my 6th vehicle...and i paid for every other one except my first beater car. I decided that a 95 ford taurus wasn't a "cool" car, so i got a job and paid for a different one. Wouldn't trade my 02 duramax for anything, not even a brand new one if someone was going to give it to me. Favorite vehicle ever! take care of em!
nmband13 02-04-2008, 05:29 PM thinkin of getting a second job. i dont care. i wont give up my truck. i love it, and i worked to hard to get it.
Ken
x2, but I have a second job ;)

Exactly, I have always had to buy my rides, and the guys I grew up with that their dads bought them, always were beating the shit out of them, and they were always broke, and dad was paying the bills at the repair shop.
I have not been back since I left 24 years ago, but I bet things are still the same.....if their parents are still alive, otherwise the inheritance is paying for it.
Like you said, if you pay for it, you tend to take better care of it.
Tolliwacker 02-05-2008, 12:23 PM When I was 20, I was driving a rusted out 69 VW! Lucky brats!:D
I was driving a 1963 Impala Convertible, Damn I miss that car, it was a mean PPG (pure Puzzy Gettin) Mobile!
ANd yes, I bought it myself, and sold it to a crack hdealer that just had to have it!:D He way OVERPAID!
That was back in the day the rappers were driving them, now it probably has a set of 29" rims with a Lucky Charms irish dude painted on it.
booone 02-05-2008, 01:36 PM hey not all kids are dumb and treat their trucks bad, im 18 and have a diesel which is the best ever. I take great care of it, like you all said if there is a wierd noise im constantly trying to find what it is. plus my truck has had some serious problems like the injectors and the hub bearings but thats gm's fault which to a garage guy looks may look like it is mine making me the stereotypical dumb kid.

plus 6" pro-comp lift, bed cover, banks six gun-dual exhaust-cold air intake, sound system, 7" flip up screen, pro-comp 35's with 17" dick cepek's
Quick Question: Did your dad buy this all for you? Or did you?
Pa1dFor 02-05-2008, 07:17 PM I'm going to chime in on this one, because I do believe there are way to many "kids" with everything given to them and don't appriciate it. (TEAR THINGS ALL TO HELL) Drives me nuts, but there is a difference between a kid and a young adult. My first truck was a 88 ford ranger, sold it got a 97 dodge gasser, sold it bought a 01 Dodge Cummins sold it to pay for school. All had payments except the ranger. now that I have graduated from a four year university, run my own business, with EVERYTHING paid in cash except my HOUSE, am happily married and just turned 23 last month. I know what it takes to get where you need to go, worked 3 jobs at one point. My parents were dead beats when it came to hand outs but made me the way I am. I'm not looking for sympathy just stating there is a difference between "kids" and "yound adults"
booone 02-05-2008, 08:13 PM no I paid for it all im not a little spoiled kid that sits around and does nothing, I would feel much less of a person if it was all given
keith_2500hd 02-05-2008, 08:28 PM Dmaxtodd, used to notice it on boat engines. what is comes down to is it heats up engine and burns-off/cleans residue and unburned carbon off turbo turbine section and combustion chambers, piston and rings. pulling load does all that stuff them snake oils claim to do.
i even had to buy my first car from my parents. every one since to.
shortcircut65 02-06-2008, 08:59 PM x2, but I have a second job ;)
i do, in the winter, but it aint payin off right now. still waitin on the snow... but i think i need a regular second job come spring.

rnolan 02-06-2008, 10:12 PM My parents didn't buy my dmax, but I don't care if someones did. This thred looks like being 16 all over again when someone had a nice car and another person had to cry about it. Myself and everyone else here knows they would take a truck someone bought for them, so who cares who has what, who paid for this, daddy must be rich blah blah. We all have dmax's here so whats it matter. My intake was a christmas present, oh man am I spoiled!!!!:D just my .02 everyone has their own opinions

Cumminskiller04 02-07-2008, 04:44 PM I'll admit i drive my truck too hard.... But I'll tell you im on this site everyday looking at what might happen and what to do if it does happen to me.
What im saying is i want to thank the administators for this site and all the helpful people who opened up my world to what DMAX can stand and what they can't. Before this site i was going to buy the PPE X-2 and run it on 10 cause my buddy does it. But thanks to everyone who has helped me im headed to Mike L first
Thanks Guys
Dbook 02-07-2008, 06:59 PM LOL I had a Ford pass me today with dual exhaust and it was blowing white smoke like crazy. As he passed me speeding down the interstate it actually blew fuel on my windshield and you could smell it in the exhaust. Not far down the road in died on em! LOL had to snap a pic with my phone of it

Tolliwacker 02-08-2008, 09:41 AM ha ha ha ha, thats awesome. Fords Suck, end of story
Yea we say that while biyaching about how our trucks breakdown the same way.......
bambam661 02-08-2008, 01:14 PM haha that a great pic. It's pretty interesting how some people abuse thier diesels and expect them to run forever.
chevyburnout1 02-08-2008, 01:20 PM I'll be the first one to admit here that when I was a kid my parents bought my vehicles and I DID beat the hell out of them. Granted the vehicles were '68/'77 Chevy farm trucks, and an '88 Celebrity wagon. But all the same I got lucky and nothin expensive broke on them that daddy would have had to pay for. Now I'm 20, livin on my own, purchased the '68 and '77 from the parentals, and makin payments on my '03 Duramax. Don't beat it up nearly as much but still hot rod a good amount. I've come to my senses with the consequences that could happen and the money that would be needed. Like when I blew my turbo..... :D
