If you have the $$$ the sky's the limit.I would say start with a tuner,gauges and an exhaust.Then the tranny.

Get a hypertec, superchips, or equivilent that will give your truck a kick in the tailgate, but not stress the engine or tranny much as they are limited to about a 90 horsepower gain at the wheels. Since the stock lby's average about 245 rwh you are increasing your power by about a third. The truck seems to hold up well if your easy on the 4-5 and 5-4 shifts. You can get a new programer for about $300, or get one used for about $200. Diesels get expensive to maintain as they age, so you can save up for the next one.

OR, since you've got an '01 without all the smog, build it up and keep it. There's alot for the lb7's, just hang around here and both your truck and your wallet will be smokin! $$$

ok but i have like 115xxx miles on it. will it be slower wen it hits 200k?

Stock truck has about 245 RWHP add 80 RWHP to that, your at about 325 RWHP. If you go above that you start doing damage to the transmission. It's also possable to damage the transmission below 80 additional RWHP.
You might want to is head out to bakersfield (Famosa) on the 23rd of Feb. You'll learn a lot!

bro my first progamer was a 90 horse bully dog and i beat the hell out of it. Can't hurt it. And your truck will be faster at 200000 if your like me cause your not going to stop adding power good luck.
