Guys
I have a little problem. My dad passed away a couple weeks ago and I need to move his truck into storage. The truck hasn't been started in over 2wks. This morning I went to move it and it won't start. It tries to turn over, so I know it's not the battery.
I'm a Dodge girl, and I don't know a thing about diesels.
Anybody got any suggestions as to what I need to check?
Thanks,
Michelle

Sorry to hear about your dad. :(
Do you know if it was running when last parked? Is it spinning over fast or slow and can you plug the block heater in? That will aid in starting.
Good luck and you have our condolences from the dieselplace staff.

Like Mackin said, plug it in for a couple hours if possible. Also you will see a wait to start light on the dash when you turn the key on. It will be a light that looks like a little coil of wire. Wait until that light goes off before you try to start it. If you can't find the light, turn the key on and count to 10 slowly then try to start it.
I am sorry to hear about your Father.

The truck has not been started since 12/21/04. It started fine on that day, but Dad told me there was something wrong with an "idler" (some type of computer problem) or something to that degree. After it starts, the idle fluctates until it warms up. He told me what the problem was and he never had time to take it in to the dealer. I just can't remember what he said was wrong. Anyway, I did let the glow plugs warm before starting and it acts like it wants to start, but it seems like it's not getting any gas. When I tried to start it this morning it was 65 degrees outside, do I need to still plug in the block heater? (Which I'm also un-familiar with)....sorry guys....I guess I should have payed more attention to what dad was telling me weeks ago. I'm really trying to save myself the expense of having it towed in and hoping that it's not the fuel pump or anything like that. (It's out of warranty)
Thanks again guys, you input is appreciated greatly! ;)
