I'm pretty sure I've finally crapped out my injectors, seems my 6.6L has made about 3/4qt of Rotella in the last week :( . I'm looking for a dealer in SW Michigan that comes highly recommended by the DP community. I don't want to take my pride and joy to some monkey farm and let them use my LB7 for training some newby. Let me know what you are think about the dealers that have serviced your rigs.

Thanks,

Other then making a run up to MA, I don't know how to check my balance rates. I'm sure if I roll into a local dealer and ask for them to check the rates they're going to bill me for it. Anybody know what a dealer charges to check balance rates? Damn I wish I wouldn't have procrastinated for so long and just bought EFI Live :(

i believe someone in the past has said they usually charge an hour or two of labor to check balance rates. i bet if they find you have bad injectors that are covered under the TSB you will not be charged. if you're not under warranty or if they don't cover you for some reason, i'd go to Merchant. i've read lots of good things about the work he does.

If your injectors do turn out to be bad, then they shouldnt bill you for checking.

Blitz,

You'd save yourself a lot of hassle and find out what's goin' on if you make an appointment and have Eric check your rig out. He'll tell you right away...and he's a straight shooter! Don't believe I've met anyone who knows more about these engines and can fix them so fast...and correctly.

Look him up...Merchant Automotive...in Holland, MI.

Good Luck,

Wayne

Wayne,

I appreciate the advice, and I'll try a get a hold of Eric here in the next couple days. I've talked with Eric a few times, and I'm sure he'll send me down the right path. I'm pretty sure he can't do warranty work though.

Thanks Again,

Weather has been complete crap, so I haven't been able to put my foot into it and see how it runs. Well this morning I pulled out onto the main road in 4x4 and found a nice set of groves that were clear of snow and ice. I dropped the hammer and let it rip through the first two shifts. It ran out pretty good for a stocker, but my eyes must have been playing tricks on me.... My stocker was smoking like a 900hp fuel only Cummins... My rig has never smoked, bairly a puff even with a 120hp tune.

Now the gears in my head are really turning. I know the LB7 injectors fail in one of two ways... one of which fills the crank case full of fuel (cracked injector sleeves???) and the other leads to crap mileage, no power, and exhaust smoke (washed out injector cups???). Is it possible for me to be experiencing the failure modes of both at the same time... ???

Dusty, bring it up when you get the chance, I've got a couple dealers local to me that will be able to do the job correctly, should be able to get a rental as well.

Blitz,

Talk to Eric...either hook up with the dealers he recommends...or the other option would be to have Eric do the work, pay for it and then talk to GM. I did the second...and was reimbursed by GM last week...probably with much help from Eric...don't know that for sure..but I suspect GM probably contacted him.

Either way, follow Eric's advice...he won't lead you astray.

I'd luv to have Eric personally do the injector swap... wonder if he'd let me roll around in his blue truck instead of a rental. :D

Actually, I made a Dr. appointment at a local dealer, spoke with Eric and he gave me his blessing. We'll find out how Weller in Bridgmen does, they came highly recommended by several other local dealers.

That's a Negative on rolling around in Eric's blue screamer. Been there twice...had Enterprise both times....Although...if he would have let me....I'd probably have had to spend more $$$$...so I guess he was sparing me some pain in the wallet :) :).

Good luck...Hope all turns out well for ya!
