im going to be getting some kmc monsters for my truck 18x9 and i am going to be putting on 285/65/18 toyo open country a/t's on them. Which off set would be better on the truck meaning less stress and less chance of rubbing anything -12mm or +18mm??? and all i will be doing is cranking the tbars a few ive been doing some research on offsets but am still a little confused i know that -12 will make the wheel stick out further and +18 will tuck it in more but then i read a thread where they were talking about + being better? i was under the impression -mm off set was....

Personally I'd go with the +18mm for two reasons, firstly I hate wheels that stick out from the wheel well and secondly the further the wheel is offset to the outside, there is more stress placed on your Wheel Hub Bearings, especially if you do a lot of offroading.

Not only that, but moving the wheels out also puts a huge load on the the tie-rods and the steering linkage when pulling hard in 4WD, especially boosted 4WD launches.

I would go with +18 as well. Wheels beyond the fender look good on some vehicles, but IMHO I prefer the wheels to tuck in.

That too!!:p::p:

This link may help answer that question - unless someone running that same combo sees your post.

Another option is to call Discount Tire. Some members have said that their customer service is very knowledgeable about offsett/backspace and what will or won't work.

If you are taking the torsion up a bit, you shouldn't rub on the 285/65/18. I know on my LMM if you do a 285/60/18 it won't rub with the stock height no torsion lift using a 18X9 with a +18 offset.

I have +10 KMC 20s that are 9" wide and they sit in the wheel well nice and no rubbing issues at all.

+18 on a 9" wheel is about the same as +28 on stock wheel. i would stay as close to stock backspacing as possible. As far as asking Discount Tire ???? Sometimes I think they just want to sell you what they have in stock and they will steer you in that direction... ????? IM sure some are sharper than others, If your running a lift, call the lift mfg. and ask them what combo they tested on your model truck. They know what works for sure
