I have a 2500HD lly EC SB 4x4 that I use to tow a 11,000 Toy Hauler. I am a Diesel Dummy. I am trying to decide on whether to get the Banks 6 gun bundle at $1800 or use a Predator/ Mbrp cat back exhaust and pillar gauge combo at half of that. I am confident in the Banks reputation, but I like the fact that the Predator is invisible for warranty purposes. I would appreciate any feedback from you guys on this forum.

It sounds like for your purposes the predator combo would work out great. Thats the way I would go.

Depending on the install, the banks is transparent as well. The only way you can tell I have anything aftermarket is if you know what to look for, ie firewall grommet puncture.

Look into a tranny upgrade :) You'll want it, eventually.

I don't have experience with the Predator, but you can do a Banks six gun, speed loader, and MBRP cat back for $1100 range. With the speed loader the gun will automatically cut the fuel back when the EGT's get high and you don't need the gauges, but are always a good idea. The Banks box is excellent for towing.

Banks quoted me $1800. for the bundle with the speed loader, exhaust, gauges and air filter. That was the 'introductory' price. The Predater with exhaust, etc. is half that.

Ive Just Recently Put In My Banks Kit,but Have Not Yet Pulled 14000# Trailer Due To Snow On Ground, But Power Is Nice And Have Not Hade A Problem. It May Be More Cash But The Added Features Are Nice. Jmo

(repost -moved)

Im between the two products. Banks is claiming 8 h.p gain and 33lb-ft better than the Edge. Banks also comes with its claims of reliability and credibility... Getting down to the dirt. (outside of the cost) Who makes the product worth purchasing. It seems as the majority of the page is Edge fans. So heres a couple of questions. Edge oviously has the ability to stack programmers. My understanding so far is with the Banks,(in terms of stacking) it's:

A.) Not been tried
B.) Cannot be done.

So long term performance upgrades (stacks, tranny upgrade, etc..) seems as if Edge is better, minus the claims to the occasional problems with the Edge. Which being the most common? (If Any) Although the flip side is that Banks does bring quite a package. If I'm more of a unloaded daily driver than a loaded one, and looking for the ability to produce higher hp/torq. gains such as stacks, ats tranny, in the given future. Give me some shouts on opinion. Im coming from a history of Banks products..but in the rhelm on the LLY/Duramax - your opinion counts!

Thanks,
- Mark

p.s - I think Im set on the MBRP exhaust and plan on adding aftermarket (autometer gauges regaurdless of what the programers come with.)

Your not gonna feel 8 hp. I can promise you that.

Edge has some issues but so does Banks. I dont know what the banks does that the Edge does not do. Both have EGT protection, trans monitor, etc.

1800.00 is a lot of money.....

you can get just the banks 6 gun if you want and use anybodys exhaust if you even want it. TTS, Edge, Predator are all other options. Also IMO you will see 0 gain except for noise by going with an intake.

Edit: I also wouldnt believe a thing banks marketing dept puts out. 1/2 the time they are either so FOS or contort what they say to a point that its laughable.

IMHO, go with the predator. It does an awesome job. They both have features that the other one don't have. Performance wise, they are about the same. My advise is to buy the predator, exhaust, and gauges and save $600+.

Other than the pain of getting the stroke adjusted on the big head actuator, the banks has been a dream. My local dealer helped me install the pyrometer and I have 40,000 hard driven miles on it just this year. Since the banks recalibrates shift points I have the only truck which did not have to be towed to the dealer when my transmission safety switch gave out due to water seepage into the switch (non banks related). So far I have beaten every truck off from 0 to 50 in my entire town.

I tow an 8500 lb. travel trailer whick I cannot even feel with the Banks on level 4. I also live in the mountains of West Virginia and EGT's rarily hit the 1300 mark.
