The other night when I was leaving work I noticed after letting the truck warm up that the temp was a little over 200. Which shocked me because I have never seen it that high just after idle. It stayed like that for about a minute and then when back down to about 180 and stayed there for the rest of the drive home and I have not seen it since. Today however, on my way into work I got a low coolant alarm, so when I got to work I checked everything out and my coolant level was fine. Here is my question: Has anyone had problems with their t-stats sticking? Also could this cause a low coolant alarm?
My truck is an 06 LLY CCSB 4x4 all stock thanks for your help.

I haven't seen that, I know when the thermostats open up the engine cools down really fast. I did have the low coolant and I think I got a new reservoir cap out of it. Have you got any extra oil in the engine?

I am not aware of an extra oil plug. This is my first diesel and I only have 18K on it so far. This has been my only issue with the truck so far. thank s for your response.

I was refering to having coolant in the oil. Sorry, I wasn't more clear.:o:

I have not noticed the smell of burnt coolant and my level appears to be fine. I am going to the dealer in a few weeks for my steering shaft, I just was not sure if I could wait that long for the coolant issue. I will keep a close eye on it. thanks for the help.

Mine is at the dealer right now to check the thermostats. Has anybody
replaced their stats themselves. Didn`t find anything in the DIY section
or by using the search .

I had the dealer replace both my stats my 06 was running warm 185-200 I didn't think they replaced them so I being a dumb sh-t bought 2 new ones
from the dealer and my truck runs warm I think most 06 and newer trucks ran warm but back to the replacment it wasn' to bad their are some hiddin
bolts under the ECM plugs to get the steel tube loose and a few plugs and
brackets in front of the motor don't break any of the plastic holders and plugs their is a bolt on top of the thermostat housing that is an air bleed
to purge the air out when you are re-filling the system yes it's kinda a pain
in the butt it took me about 45 mins and did'nt have any left over bolts.
Good luck [p/s I'm going back to the dealer to have them change the fan clutch]

There is nothing wrong with 185-200. The second t-stat doesn't even open until 205.
