In 2 weeks we are leaving for canada to go snowmobiling. I am only pullin 2 sleds in a two place aluminum trailer with a sled in the bed of my truck, not goin to be much weight at all what should i back the juice down to? maybe 3? another question i have is with t/h will the tranny always downshift on a grade when you just want it to stay rollin? Do you think with the little amount of weight i will have that i will need t/h, and will it get better fuel milage with t/h on or off?
Thanks..

Definitely don't need any juice with that light of a load. If you don't want grade braking just don't engage T/H and you'll have normal handling. Otherwise your sig doesn't tell us about exhaust, AFE, etc., so if you are currently running higher than 3 on the edge backing down shouldn't be much of a problem. JJ

You definitely don't need to put in t/h for that little load. The manual says that if your stoping n' going all the time, it's recommended but for tht load, wouldn't worry about it. I pulled a 6000 lbs travel trailer and the truck had no problems and even when passing other vehicles, it didn't even down shift. These trucks are designed to pull loads.

I pulled 10k across country in t/h, no juice, no mods. Truck pulled like a banshee. You dont need juice for your load, IMHO. Even had to pull out of a ditch in snow and ice, and in 4High, pulled it right up and out.

i have all stock except for juice which i leave on 3 i was just wondering if i could leave it there for that load i know i dont "need" it i was wondering what the tranny could handle as far as towing with hp added? if lvl3 will be hard on the trans pullin weight??? im not sure. Thanks for the fast responses!

I pull 6-8K with mine, never use the tow haul or overdrive off for going up hill. (oregon cascades and coast range) takes a pretty steep grade with only 8K to slow it down. I have use tow/haul on steep downhills for grade braking, almost like a downhill cruise control. The allison doesn't "hunt" back and forth between gears, when it downshifts, it will hold the lower gear longer than it may need to just so it doesn't go up a gear, then back down.

set it to level 2 to keep the EGT's down. Level 3 you will see the EGT's getting pretty high when towing and depending on where you have your back down set, you probably won't have any benifit from level 3 anyway.
