Hey guys I just got home for work 550 am Im late, Im gonna make this quick.
I ran about 80mph home got off highway. Got on her a bit heavy with the right foot. Immediately I start smoking really really really bad with the heaviest knocking sound I have ever heard knock knock knock knock. It ran with the rpms(the knock) The smoke was pretty whiteish/grey looking.
I just got my truck back from the shop with a set of new injectors. IM thinking this is either simple(bad injector) or something major. Can ya give me some advice.
This is just WTF I need. Saving up for a weddding
Thanks
Bill

It sounds like one injector to me. This must be on the 02?
Since you just had injectors replaced, I'd take it back to the dealer and have them check which one..

Either injector or cracked head, but if dealer just put injectors in, prob injector. x2 on take it back to 'em, but watch for 'em to try to get you on something else.

It was towed to dealer. Service Manager is a good friend, so they will be good to me. He pretty much stated that "he's got a bad feeling about this" I do too.
It was smoking and knocking sooo bad. Im thinking I lost an injector sleeve, wrist pin. I dunno.
This is like waiting to find out if a family member died during surgeury Or the like.

Not to sure on smaller diesel engines but on my freightliner when the injector fell on top of the piston sounded like i blew my motor since they installed new injectors maybe something was not installed or had a difect hopefuly its only an injector

sounds to me like possibly a head gasket, or cracked piston. did they have to remove the heads when they replace the injectors? maybe one of the new injectors lost a nozzle? (highly unlikely but possible).

Its my 02. Its looking like a stuck open Injector as of tonight. They didnt have time to check for compression yet.
If it was a cracked or hole in a piston wouldnt it blow dark smoke out the exhaust and wouldnt I hear an obvious puffing sound from the engine?
The knock I heard wasnt in speed with a piston problem. It was too slow(I assume) I really think I got a bad injector. Its showing cylinder #1 and possibly 2 are dead. Mechanic said sometimes you get feedback between opposite sided cylinders.
The funny thing is Injector/Cylinder #1 showed bad balance rates after my injectors were replaced. My truck has 144k on it and my tech/SM said the injectors they replaced were on the pass/fail edge in terms of balance rates.
Time will tell.
