I am looking for a clear/definitive source for metripack and GM connectors and part info because I'm totally confused after hours of research.

The first problem is simply what I am to refer to these things as - there seems to be no common terminology. To date I've heard the connectors on our GM trucks referred to as: GM, Delphi-Packard, AC Delco, Metripack. Is one generally considered the "primary" name?

Next is the challenge of getting the right part number to order. I've found a few sources but the part number info is ambiguous - there seems to be a Delco P/N (PTxxx), a GM P/N (15xxxxxx) and another part number which the Helm factory service manual references (12xxxxxx). The part numbers in there do not seem to coincide with anything on these sites. I'm wondering is there some kind of translation table between 12xxxxxx and 15xxxxxx numbers? It seems that the 15xxxxxx numbers are available but the equivalent 12xxxxxx numbers are not.

For example, on my 2004.5, I need the relay block (MBEC) connector C8, which is the SEO connector for powered accessories (page 8-1303 of the 2004 Helm factory manual). This is listed as P/N 12193930, "6-way F metri-pack 280 series (black)". This is a sampling of what I've found online:

Rock Auto: shows ACDELCO PT1071 / 15305931 as the part (I think, it's based on their description). A search for 12193930 shows nothing.
GM Parts Direct: shows 15305931, but not 12193930, which is what the Helm manual lists this part number as.
This D/P thread (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6618&highlight=Packard+Connectors)lists the part differently:

12193930 = 15306107 = PT1268
12193922 = 15306105 = PT1266

These are the sources I'm aware of - any other ideas that actually include the part numbers listed in the Helm manual? I'm thinking I'll have to go all the way down to the Stealer every time I need a part number if I can't figure this out. There must be a better way.

CalDirt,

letīs try to clarify a little...GM does not manufacture their own connectors, this has been
the job of Packard, now Delphi-Packard. Packard used to belong to GM, now it is a division of Delphi, which also used to belong to GM. AC Delco should not be confused with Delco Electronics, another division of Delphi, recently renamed to Delphi Electronics & Safety. It is possible though, that AC Delco sells some connectors for aftermarket purposes which then have a different name.
Metripack is just a series of connectors from Packard.
Please take a look here:

Click on Catalog Index Search "automotive" GO and download the entire printed
catalog if you like (BIG download)

Hope this answers some of your questions...please keep in mind that GM might have
assigned part numbers to connectors that are not manufactured by Packard. Then it
would be necessary to identify the brand first...could be Tyco http://www.tycoelectronics.com/ or a bunch of others ...
