I have a rattle coming from under the dash on the passengers side of my truck, driving me Censored nuts! Two of my friends are having the same problem with their trucks also mines an 05, the other two are 1500's ones a 03 GMC and the other is an 04 silverado. Anybody else notice this?

There is another thread on this somewhere. I am having the same issues. I think it is the return for the heater vent. I am taking mine in this week to have it looked at. I will post what I find out...

I Think He May Be Talking About The Windshield Trim.... It Kinda Sounds Like Its Coming From The Upper Dash. If You Want More Info Pm Me And I Can Tell You About It Had 2 Trucks With This Problem.

It's most likly the plastic trim on the outside bottom of the windshield, under the wipers. Mine sounded like it was coming from under the dash on the Passenger side.. It was that plastic trim. Found it after a ice storm and the rattle went away.

Mine dash rattles, sounds like the it's coming from the passenger side dash, and only happens while idling. Definetly not my windshield trim.

Mine does it too - not bad though. On the way in today I had myself conviced it was the glovebox door but no such luck.

I had the exact same problem, and thought that it was the glovebox as well. It was kind of a rattling/buzzing sound at idle and when I would hit a washboard section of the gravel road that we live on.

I had my wife ride with me and check under the dash with her hands to find out that was rattling/vibrating to cause the noise. She singled out a metal box about the size of a pack of playing cards under the right side of the dash. When I crawled under and looked, it appears to be some type of electronics box, as it has wires attached.

The box has a type of pressure fitting on its side that appears to become loose through driving. I first simply pushed it back in place, but it did not stay for long. I ended up pushing it in place, and then painting some liquid tape on it at the pressure connection point and let it dry overnight. That was 4000 miles ago, with no recurrence of the noise.

Can you see and get to it w/o removing anything?

Yep. Open the passenger door, move the seat all the way back and lay with your shoulders on the passenger side floorboard. I am 6'2", 215lbs and managed to fit under there. The challenging part was getting enough light up there to see what you are doing. I ended up holding a penlight in one hand (and sometimes in my mouth) and doing the "painting" with the other.

Did they say what it was, Ive had my dash apart 5 times, im about to just leave it off and have someone drive it while i lay my legs out the window with my head in the glovebox. There is NOTHING more annoying then a rattle like that. Its like the truck is laughing and taunting me lol

This is why I love this board, my 05 has 800 miles on it and the rattle continues to get worse and is only at idle, gets better if I press on the glove box. I guess I will try to find that little box you are talking about.
