Wheres the best place to send out to for an oil analysis? How does it work, they send you a kit and then you mail it back to them or you just find your own container and send it in? I have a weird noise and I just want to be on the safe side and hope I can catch a problem before it turns into a catastrophe.

Do you have to call them ahead of time and wait for a kit or something or do you just send in your oil?

Check out AV Lube in the list of Vendors here they got a online store to buy the sample kits and usually email your results within 3 days of getting sample

I have them in my store and they respond quickly. Go to Purchase products, to acessories, then to the 2nd page.

Another popular place is Blackstone Laboritories, in Ft. Wayne, IN. They have a web page.

Here are two that I've used. They use "kinematic viscosity" as opposed to "SUS" as the method to determine viscosity swing between drain intervals.

Here's an article on viscosity measurement methods, if you are interested.
