: B10, Warranty, Stanadyne

The owners manual says I can use B5 but no higher blend. On a recent Tahoe trip, I came across B10 that is at the ski resort I regularly visit. I'd love to buy fuel there because it's perfectly located to fill up before I head back home. My concerns are:

1. I don't want to void the warranty. Can I actually do damage to the fuel system or filters by running B10? I have 4K miles on the truck and have had the Nicktane on since 1K miles so I'm assuming everything after the Nicktane should be pretty clean and the Nicktane should be able to handle any gunk coming from the tank and lines in front of it.

2. I use Stanadyne at every fill up. Will this work fine with B10 to drop the pour point?

Any comments or suggestions would be most welcome.

Driveawedge,

There is nothing inherently wrong with running up to B100 in the truck. This is of course outside the warranty....including B10. However...like with any fuel you put in your truck..including D#2....GM will void your warranty if the fuel is bad...usually water.

I regularly run B20 and have run B100 twice..the B20 I get from a Cardlock and I had it checked by a lab(since I run it so much) and it almost met our ISO spec from the pump. The point here is that is more important where you get it than what you get.

As far as additive go....they are geared towards D#2.....except Powerservice has some specific for Biodiesel. I did ask one..it was not Stanadyne..about using additives for B20 and they suggested just doubling the dosage.

If the station can guarantee their fuel is up to ASTM specs, there is no reason not to run it.

Crap, you could almost pour in 10% virgin oil and be fine.
