My truck is equiped with outside heated mirrors and I noticed the passenger side has stoped heating. I am not sure how the heating elements are attatched to the back of the mirror or even how to get access the the inside of the mirror. Any suggestions??
Thanks

I hope someone has an answer for this one, because mine has the same affliction. Plus, for some reason the passenger side heater controls (manual) don't work either.

My passenger side mirror does not heat either. I do believe you must purchase a new mirror. If you find something out, let us know.

I unfortunatley broke my drivers side mirror when I nicked the garage door with it. So I called my buddy at the chevy dealer, parts manager and he looked it up by the vin. I have the heated/directional,automatic fold mirrors. He told me the MSRP was $350.00 for the mirror but gave it to me at his price $160. Anyway, the element is attatched at the top and bottom of the glass by some sort of glue. There are two wires, 1 each for the top and bottom of the mirror, that plug into the back of the mirror. There is also a small harness for the directional and automatic adjustment that plugs into the back of the mirror. To get the mirror out, I pointed the mirror all the way down and popped it out. To put it back in, do the opposite with even pressure across the whole mirror till you hear the two clips snap.

Found this interesting. IIRC most heated mirrors had the little squiggly three lines on the mirror face to indicate it is a heated mirror. My '05 doesn't have those markings but it does have heated mirrors. I asked the dealer about it and he said that they all come like that now. I wonder if they went to a new manufacturer or something because of too many past faulty heated mirrors??

When they have some frost on them or are fogged a little push the button for the rear defroster and see if the sides defog. That's how mine works. They are slightly warmer than the window glass too when you feel them, enough to tell the difference between the really cold and slightly warm.

The heating element is attached to the mirror itself. I just had my passenger side mirror replaced a month ago as the heating element went out. Just last week the drivers side just went out. Dealer said it is a common problem.

My passenger mirror stopped heating as well. The dealer told me that there is a problem with the door control module and has ordered me a new one. We shall see if this fixes the problem.

Just replace the mirror glass. If you power the mirror inward all the way you can look behind it and see two little wires attached to the element. (If you were wondering if you have heated mirrors)
