Hello

Hope the answer to my question isn't too common, in my defense, I tried many searches to find the answer. :)

I am looking into a turbo off a 1998 truck 6.5 GM diesel, I am wanting to use it in another application altogether, which brings on the need to look at a compressor map, obviously to see just how compatible this unit will be with what I plan to do.

Seems I read that it is known as a "GM 4 turbo" possibly "GM 8", the turbo is believe to be off a 1998 vehicle.

Who makes this unit, I am thinking holset but then again I am guessing?

What is the model, again thinking HX35 but not certain?

Anyone have a direct link to a compressor map for this unit?

I keep seeing conflicting information, if anyone can clear it up for me, it would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time

It's an IHI turbo and the only thing I can tell you is the inlet wheel is very similar to a V wheel from turbonetics for their T04b stuff. The exhaust wheel has the same demensions as a T3 stage II exhaust wheel.

The GM turbo is made by Borg-Warner and if it's off a '98 it should be a GM 8. The HX35 like from a Dodge is made by Holset. Hope this helps.

There was a link to a map for this compressor awhile back.

Thats great, would you know if it was posted in this section or another?

One more question, is the compressor (cold) side of the 6.5 GM 8 turbo adjustable. For my application the direction would be better if it were pointing up vs to the right (facing the front of the vehicle).

Thanks, hopefully I can find that map.

You can rotate the intake housing around. As far as the map it was in the 6.5L forum, search "compressor map".

Thanks

Yeah I tried that search with no success, I did get this post as a match though. :) I even tried using the term: map ...nothing but reference to a sensor and this post. I started a thread maybe someone with remember it or be the user that posted it.

You wouldn't happen to remember who the user was that posted the map would you?

Thanks
