For a while now I have a new noise that corresponds with the turbo boost. It starts at about 13psi and gets louder as boost increases. It is a loud vacuum type sound that reminds me of radio ignition noise. This sound is not the whisle of my AFE, though I can't hear that whistle over this new noise.

Does it sound like air leaking? Check all of the connections past the turbo, throughthe intercooler and into the manifold. Might have a leak somewhere.

Could be a leak I suppose. Will have to look around and see if I can find anything. I was kind of worried I had barked the turbo one too many times.

check for leaks in the boots/hoses/charge cooler.

Thats what it sounds like your up against.

If you are not losing too much boost, check the waste gate feed. Had this happen to me on my 2001 Dodge. Sounded like it would keep the deer out of the way. thanx geo.

I was told when my coupler came off the turbo that this has happened more than a few times. Easy to fix and check.

A vacuum sound would be a correrct description of what was happening to my truck. started while i accelerated hard while towing with no power loss, smoke or anything else just a sucking sound, until it finaly came off the next day going to church. Lots of smoke, bucking and hesitation. Fellow church members were not happy i was in the parking lot. Brought it in on a Sunday to drop it off, a salesman came out and fixed it immediately.

Well I haven't found anything yet.... any details on what I am looking for? What is the turbo couple? Charge cooler? I know very little about that thing, besides why it is there.

This is the same noise I submitted. You pin-pointed the noise when you said it sounded like the radio ignition noise. Dont think it is hurting anything. Tell me if you figure anything out. IS a boost gauge standard on 01'/02' and not on the newer trucks (mine is an 03') or is this something you guys have added on. I had one on my T-Bird SC and loved it.
