I finally said screw it and spent the big money on a set of Revos. I pretty much just got fed up with shopping around and decided to go with the good ones. $680 when it was all said and done. Mileage seems to be about the only issue with these tires, as everybody raves about every other aspect of them. So I figured since this is now my weekend warrior truck (we welcomed a 99 Tahoe into our family last week, the new family hauler http://community.webshots.com/album/240617732gplzYQ) and won't see a lot of miles, I figured I'd go with them anyway.

I went with the 285/75/16's. Had to do just a very small amount of trimming of the backside of the fender flares, but you'd never know it unless you know what you're looking for. I think they looks pretty sweet. RPM's dropped about 200 at 60mph, over the previous 265/75/16's, and the burb sits noticeably higher when you're trying to climb inside or driving down the road. I LIKE IT, but previous to this truck I was driving an 87 burb with 7" of lift and 35" tires, so I kinda miss feeling like king of the road anyway.

I put about 200 miles on them yesterday and really put them to the test. Went ice fishing and drove around the lake in them. Didn't even use 4wd in a foot of snow on top of the ice, and then seem to cruise down the road very nicely.

Anyways, here's a couple pics...

before i lifted my blazer and went to 10" alloys i ran 285/75r16 bfg at's (the old ones) on the stock alloys. the only place it rubbed was inside the rear fender wells when it would bottom out jumping dunes in corova, nc on the beach. if south dakota allows wheel spacers you may want to add 1/2" to each side in the back. va does not allow them so i had to take them off once a year.;) i still have them laying around here somewhere.

Were you able to use your OEM wheels?

With the new treads, did you correct what the speedo's reading?

Yup.

Nope. I have a fancy schmancy GPS sitting on the dash that gives me my speed more accurately than any speedometer could. The gage now reads 2mph slower than the GPS.

Gee Wade, you've got a GPS on the dash, but just can't figure out what state you're in on your "Location" over by your avatar.):h

I officially live in Iowa, 3 miles south of the minnesota border, and about 10 miles east of the South Dakota border. I do most of my work in SD, and spend a lot of my free time fishing, hunting, and playing softball in Minnesota.

Still not sure exactly why I live in Iowa.

I've got a 4-wheel alignment scheduled for the middle of this week. Hopefully no new (expensive) parts will be necessary and I'll be rolling smoothly on the new tires for a long time to come.

OK Now tell me more bout that GPS gizmo you got there. How Much where'd you get it??????It's a Garmin GPSMap 76C loaded with CitySelect software for auto-routing. Works pretty sweet. I think I bought it from BestPriceGPS.com. I'm still waiting for a $50 rebate to get back to me that may or may never come, but if it does I think I paid about $330 for it (plus $150 for the City Select software).

Hey, are the tires E-rated? I like the BFG AT's in 265/75-16, but they are "D" rated and reportedly wear very fast when supporting a big rig like a Suburban. I was able to get over 75k miles on 31x10.5-15' on the first-gen Isuzu Trooper.

E rated 285/75's are hard to come by.

But there are E rated 265/75 Revos, if that's the size you're looking for.
