(12k) Along with an extreme set up afe intake kite and 4" exhaust kit. would like to add more power later aka nos so wondering what stage to set up with? All out for a 5 and be done? Any shops in Oklahoma to build the tranny up or somebody to order a complete drop in unit with exchange? Also what type of stall converter is available for this as well?truck 2003 crewcab dually 2wd. Are you looking at towing or racing? NOS use is out of the question with towing.
As we always say, overbuild the trans. You can get the pieces in kit form for a DIY or having a shop install or you can get a complete unit and those come with a hefty warranty. Look at what your planning to add for power and double it, maybe more since you plan on NOS. You'll be pushing 600 rwhp with a properly equipped truck and NOS so the trans needs to be ready for it. I would say a Suncoast IV or a full ATS w/ co-pilot. You could go with a Suncoast III as well, but you would end up pushing its limits with big boxes and spray. You dont really want a stall converter per say as these make big torque in the basement and you want to get it down. The major trans companies can make a converter for you based on your expected use and requirements or you can use and off the shelf unit that is made for an all around use. Look for the supporting vendors here for your trans needs.

I tow on the weekends to the lakes, and want the nos for the extra umph when a ricer lines up beside me at the lights when not loaded. I average about 8000 miles towing a year roughly, and the rest is non towing mileage. So for the stall would it be better to get one that is built stronger than a stocker and then just leave the stall speed down. I see that your a supporting vendor as well, if your rig and using it for what I do, which would you recommend for personal preferance? Want to set it up once, what are the price differences for a drop in unit to diy's as well? Sorry for the questions, but do appreciat the help. John

John, I think a SC III will hold what you want. It is currently being changed to be a beefier kit and it may change names or something, but whatever it becomes, it will work for you. I have one coming for my truck now. As for converters, lots of talk regarding them lately and how they feel. I suggest doing lots of reading and make a decision yourself, but I will guide you on your quest. A drop in LIV (http://www.gmdieseltech.com/store2/cart.php?target=product&action=view&product_id=16279&category_id=283) Suncoast is around 4750.00. That gives you a two year nearly unlimited warranty (aside from install errors etc). A LIII kit in its current forum is around 2200 for the kit. Add install for both of them and your in the 52-5400 range for a LIV and about 3500 for a LIII total. Most of the converters on the market are of high quality, Suncoast, ATS, TTS offer good options. DTT is working on a converter that is a single disk and preliminary testing seems to be going well, but it is yet to convince the masses that a single disk convereter will hold big HP.

Thanks again, been reading about the drop in units and think I would run that way instead of a kit for the warrenty issue alone, truck has 36K on it now, don't know aht would happen with a diy kit installed. The stock converters wont hold up will they? Which converter would be a good one to run in it for what it is used for? John
