Everytime I drive at night im guaranteed to get flashed the high beams from someone else who thinks I have mine on.......Coming home from the sierras tonight I got lit up 13 times......yes i counted and had my daughter tally them up........could my lights be out of adjustment or they chevy lights just that bright.....could me cranking the torsion bars angle the lights all weird???? Just an idea i had in my head...........but its getting really annoying

Cranking the bars changes how your lights are aimed. You might want to adjust the lights a couple turns. But then again that happens to me all the time too and mine isn't cranked at all yet. Very irritating. Not sure why when the dims aren't aimed too high. Damn people should know that GM has used the outside lights as dims since 88...

I've never been flashed in my 2004.5. I got flashed on my 1999 1500 when I had a load until I got air bags.

I just flash them back with all 4 beams. They get the idea quickly that my lows are what's on.

On top of the headlight assy there is a small torq screw for adjusting the beam height. I too was flashed a lot till I lowered my lights. Just point the truck at a wall 20 yards away and you can observe how much the beam moves. It took a few tries to find the best height.

I agree with all these guys. i would suggest you make your adjustments with the truck looking down a level road. A little can go along way when you use distance to gauge it. Using the garage door usually results in overadjustment for me.

You changed the angle of the truck relative to the road with the torsion crank.

Hey Norcal - I had to laugh because when I was coming back from Jackson on Jack Tone Road, I think I also had the the same problem after cranking my t-bars too. Thirteen times sounds about right. My wife thought I was nuts and it was my fault - like I could do something about it when I had my beams on low. Now I can show her this thread. :)

The factory lights are pretty bright, and I've also got high-wattage bulbs, but I'm pretty sure the t-bar cranking is only exacerbating the problem. I doubt that GM would have sent these out of the factory configured in a manner so that it seemed like our brights were on when they weren't.

Cranking the t-bars raises the level that they are pointed up several degrees so instead of hitting the road, it's hitting people's windshield with more intensity. Just adjust those down a bit.

Also, when I added my PIAA bulbs with a blue tint, it seemed like I got flashed less often.

I also did what corona did - hit them back with 4 (or 6 with your fogs relayed) and they get the idea. :)

I was at a stoplight yesterday morning turning left and there was a person across from me turning left as well. We were sitting there a long time waiting for the green and she flashed me. Not a good idea. So, I had to give her all six and light up the interior of her car. She had to sit there and look at my 'lowbeams' for another good 30 sec or so.

I find it funny when meeting an oncoming car I dim my lights when we are on the level ground which they should see and realize my high beams are not on, yet they flash me anyway. I think that with "normal" headlights you get a microsecond of no light as the headlights go from high to low. With this all-on configuration just the highbeams go out and there isn't that little blip you normally get and people don't see it.

The lowbeams on these trucks are bright by themselves anyway, and then add the front end turned up and as a result the lights out of convergence........gets a lot of flashes from people.

I have the same problem. I did not do anything with my torsion bars and i still get flashed all the time. I also have the fog lights that i use alot. I did get out of the truck one time and look at them. There pretty darn bright. So I dont think it has to do with your torsion bars.

So I dont think it has to do with your torsion bars.
You need to reconnect the positive and negative to the torsion bars, they leave the line disconnected.

if you drive with your fog lights on, then you will definately get flashed. i cranked my torsion bars and was getting flashed without fog lights on. i had to adjust my beams and have yet to be flashed.

The first time I was driving after dark after cranking the torsion bars I got flashed a couple of times. Like I said above, the low beams are very bright to begin with but when you bring the front end up it makes the problem even worse.

Why are you all cranking your torsion bars? Doesnt that wear your tires?

That's funny. I have been flashed since before my t bars were cranked and I mean ALL the time, even without fogs on. It was real annoying at first, I always flashed them back to let them know they were my low beams. Then it got kinda fun, everytime I pull up to a stoplight or stopsign, I can see EVERYTHING inside their vehicle. I know it's got to piss them off, but there's really not a whole lot I can do, rather than turn my lights off. Now with t bars cranked it's alil worse but not really much. Oh well, if they don't like it, they can get behind me....... and take a lil puff!:D

I have a GMC and very rarely get flashed. I switched to Silverstars two weeks ago and nobody has flashed me syrt. I run with my fog lights on and have had only one person complain about the extra light. I know quite a few guys driving Chevy's and their fogs get them flashed all the time. Two have even been pulled over by the cops and told not to run their fogs.

i used to get flashed at least 1 time a nite with just my t-bars cranked. now i got my 285's and wow every thing on wheels flashes me. i even get flashed when it isnt even dark out(just dark anough for the head lights to go on). after my 3" lift i will be re angeling my headlights because the cops in my town are already eyeing my when i drive by. its deff not a safe thing. i usually let people flash me 2 times before i get them back. and if they hold down their high beams well they get all 4 untill i go by them. again not safe but they started it.

Mine is all stock and I get flashed. Good thing this truck is equipped with the dual highs and lows at the same time feature, it really pisses some people off, maybe someday they will get the point. I changed to keeping the highs on until the car can see me and watch me dim them. If I still get brighted, then it is daylight time!!

O.K. time for a stupid question...... Minn Kota, how did you get your "all" head lights on configuration when your brights are on?......Rick

Ever since about 30 (read: got married, beat down) I have tried to be a "road friendly" driver but even more so once I realized that my lights were lighting people up from behind more than normal. So I try to stay way off people's arss (4-6 car lengths), I signal, and if they won't get out of the fast lane, I just go around.

But still I get some jackarss that'll lay on his brights after I pass, and they do it in places where it's pitch black, so I can really see it. For a long time I just laughed and smoked them, but I've put up with it long enough.

So I finally got so disgusted with being flashed that I installed a pair of 55W driving lights in the back. Yeah, they are for filling in on reverse, but I can also use them in conjunction with my cargo lights, for those times when I want to share something with a "special" driver behind me.

I know I shouldn't and I don't - but sometimes my hand just "slips" onto the light switch and kicks them on. ;)

Hook up a couple of hideaway strobes to the flash to pass circuit. Let the drama begin.

Hmmm...that sounds interesting. What are "hideaway strobes"? Who makes them? Do you have any part of sourcing info? Never heard of these before.
