You are referring to the engines and there is no real difference in them, power, quietness and things are bout the same. Now as far as the trucks go 800 to 900 series Ive owned both and really liked the older 800 style but now ive had my 08 truck I love it for sure. As far as mods go things are not as easy because of the DPF stuff but I just ordered a PPE and 4" complete exhasut system for my 08 so im really gonna love it when I get tuned and exhausted!!!

You couldnt go wrong either way, don't second guess yourself, im sure you'll love your new truck, have fun and be safe!!

that's what's got me now, is the whole DPF thing. i want to mod with PPE and turbo back. i have been doing a lot of reading here and some of the problems and MPG's stories have me on scared with the '08.

Cujo, I've owned LBZ and now LMM. Both are great trucks. As far as the DPF, it hasn't been an issue with me. I let it idle for periods of time and I give her hell sometimes. Truck behaves great. As far as the ride, the LBZ was a bit smoother. (keep in my mind its a 3/4 HD truck so take that with a grain of salt) The LMM is quieter and rides alot stiffer. Feels like you are in a truck. I like the door paneling on the LBZ's better than I do the LMM. IMO the leather seats in the LBZ are a LITTLE more comfortable, however they wear fast. wrinkles etc. The LMM's leather seats are a bit stiffer and don't wrinkle as much. My truck is 10 months old now and the seats still look new. At this point my LBZ seats looked like they were 5yrs old. The LBZ overall will probably give you 1-2mpg better overall city/hwy driving. I believe the LMM's come with a 5yr/100k mile bumper to bumper warranty. I am not sure if the 07 classics do, but my LBZ came with 3yr/36k bumper to bumper and 100k on the powertrain. Both trucks score an 8 in my books! Hope that helps!

the dpf is easly taken care of. the fit and finish of the classic dosent evn compare to the nbs trucks they are soo much nicer inside the ride and overall fit and finish is soo much better in the new trucks. imo i would go for a 07.5 or 08 you will ove the truck

i know what you are talking about on the leather. i have an 02 with leather and the driver side looks like hell. the o7 has leather and the 08 will have after market leather put in. as far as the trucks i am in the middle. the new one should be in on monday so i can look at it closer. thanks for the info. especially on the DPF, that thing has to go:D

the nbs is definitely a lot better interior wise then the classics. I even prefer the exterior now =) I havnt had any teething problems to speak of with the new truck, only a dash rattle here and there that fixed themselves!

I'm thinking about an 08. I have an lb7 04 now. I tow a 12000 lb 5th wheel. Are the numbers on the newer engines real, or are they "adjusted" for new ways of reporting? 365 hp and (I think) 650 torque sounds really good.

I had a 02 ext cab 4x4 LB7 it had a small tune in and exhaust on it. My LBZ and LMM would chew that thing and spit it out. HOWEVER, it was damn fine truck and as far as mpg's - boy do I miss that. The new one's aren't close!

On the hwy if I can keep it around 65mph I can get 18ish. City 15ish.

My LB7 with intake, exhaust and small tuner was getting 22-23 on hwy. I was running 265/75/16 tires on em though.
