I am thinking of buying a Gm extended cab for the business. I do a lot of heavy towing and plowing. I currently own a Dodge and it has 500,000 km on it and is still going strong. I am looking at the duramax and was hoping that I would get the same service out of it as I have the Dodge. I have taken them for test drives and I found they have a lot of power now I need to know what whether it will give me the same amount of km as my Dodge. I have read all I can read on duramax and have heard the good and bad. As a business owner I need to get the best I can for my money so I would like to know if anyone knows how well the duramax stands up over time.

If it helps, a guy on here by the name of Broker has put some real impressive mileage on his Duramax equipped trucks. I expect to at least get 500000Kms out of my truck. I don't know if by adding go fast goodies to it will benefit in me getting there. Nick

Isuzu has been making diesels for a very long time with impressive results. Cummins as well. The Allison tranny makes a great combo if you are going with an automatic. JJ :)

I don't think you can beat the D/A combo. If it got down to just the engine, I would have to go with the cummins.

For me I would likely buy a Dodge :eek: - I know Blasphemy right. But if I want and extended cab size back seat, I like the fact that the DC Quad cab has a door post like a regular Crew Cab truck. I've seen too many of the suicide door configurations develop rattles, squeeks, wind noise and I don't see how the cab can be as strong in an accident or roll over situation. As far as longevity goes, I don't know too much about the LLY DMAX but I'm sure its a super power plant. The Cummins is probably good too, FWIW there is no EGR circuit on the Cummins that a lot of people are going out of there way to defeat on the LLY. FLAME SUIT ON :cool:
