I was in a regen today on the highway and there was a nice stretch of road. Is 95 the top speed on these trucks? Or does the regen limit the speed? I have an 08. - Peter

Thats pretty much the top speed with every GM truck. GM cars shut down at around 107.

Yep, end of the line...until you get a programmer!!

According to the stealth 2, max speed is 96 mph.

The limit can be removed with most programmers

Same with PPE

With 35" tires you can do about 109mph!!!

I've seen log files of 147mph... someone with more balls than myself :uhoh2::eek2:

Not sure I would be willing to go that fast on stock setup.

Its all about the tires, and how much rotational speed they can take before they assplode :D

yep..stock thats it..with my programmer i have seen 125...

Really, with both the PPE and Stealth max speed is 95 mph. What about Edge and Banks. I was upset when I hit and stayed at 95 and thought well a programmer will fix that. But is sounds as if that was wrong!

A programmer will fix the speed limiter. EFI Live shows what the limitor is set at. Which is 95 - 96. With EFI Live I am able to put any value up to around 160 MPH in the cell. Thats only if you have the balls to go that fast.

Too bad my LMM isn't like my 02' WS6...it had a speed limiter...but I'm thinking it was like 155 or 165...haha:)

Incorrect

The Stealth allows you to change max speed to 200 mph, so basically, it's either there or it's not

Thats wierd because When I was in the computer doing the DPF delete we change the top speed limiter to 120 but it still only goes to about 98 or so. Also Keep in mind I dont have a tune so maybe it is limiting the RPM in 6 th gear that is keeping me around the 98 MPH mile marker? The truck pul;s hard then shuts down as if I never even changed the top speed value with efi live. never makes it past 100

The speed limiter is based on the tires that came stock with the vehicle. Your F-body had Z rated tires stock, hence the 155 speed limit.

So what is the simplest way to change the limiter to 150 or so without doing anything else ?
Mine truck noses over at 2 needle widths before 100 ! but my trailer has a top speed of 145 ! t

With the 07's (and this is now on many GM vehicles) the ECM no longer defines the Speed Limit. It's contained in another module (the BCM I think). If you are using EFILIve you need to set H0106 to Disable, that will kill the limiter totally as the ECM will ignore the BCM commands for speed limiting.

Cheers,
Cindy

'06 stock Impala will do at least 134, let off before it shut off.....not checked the tire rating so not sure what they are

So what can each programmer set the speed to?

gilcon
01-25-2008, 08:40 PM
PPE will either set it at 200, or 96 or less - no in between.

I have the PPE,120 mph and still pulling hard.this is my first diesel truck, all i can say is this is one strong engine.i'll never go back to a gas engine again:).took my buddy out for a ride the other day, when we got back he asked if he could take it for the day:eek:

Probably not in stock form. If you calculate it out, at 3600 rpm redline and stock 265/70/17 tires, assuming adequate torque (good assumption) the top speed would be "only" 136 mph. Still ballsy.:naughty: And fast enough to get you arrested in all 50 states.

get the programmer, end of limiter.:D
