okay gents i just bought some OEM GMC Denali projectors....
Remember i have a GMC....im gonna just run the SIlverstar ultras i suppose but here is my question: (and yes ive spent over a house looking at all the posting and just a little confused)

1. who has actually put true HID's in their GMC OEM projectors and do they like them.

2. what did it take (plug n play?)

3. what HID kit worked the best for this?

THANKS!!!!

I did the HID's, yes they are plug and play, just get a kit for the 9005 bulbs and you're good to go. Most of the ballasts out there are pretty much the same components with different stickers on them. I love them in mine. I went with HID 5000K bulbs in the Hi's and Low's. I went with 5000K replacement bulbs in my DRL's and Fogs as well. I have the All Lights On Mod done and the light output is amazing.

If you want and OEM color light, go with 4300K temperature bulbs. 5000K - 6000K bulbs will give you white to a hint of blue color, 8000K will give a definite blue color, and anything around 10,000K and up will give you a purple color. You will get the best visibility out of a 4300K - 6000K bulb.

Check the lighting thread in electrical. I know its long but somewheres in the middle, there's a couple guys who did the Denali conversion with actual HID's in them. They also included pictures.

My lights are after market but the projector housing is very similar... HID's are well worth it!

Yes, the Denali projectors are 9005 for both hi and low. When I bought my HID kits off eBay, I just specified the 9005 kit and the bulb temperatures (colors) and everything was perfect.

thanks unit..but my question is really this: im putting in my new headlights right now but do i put the actual high beam(light/harness) into the projector low beam spot and leave the stock low beam dangling basically....lol...maybe im a moron b/c the 9005 bulb doesnt fit into the low beam socket..thanks!!!

They are both 9005's as long as they are real Denali projectors (which it sounds like they are. The sockets might not line up the same and you may just need to put the bulbs in at a different angle (ie. up and down and turn to the middle to lock in, or from the middle and then turn down)?

ok, so i can put my stock lights right back into the same spot? with a little different angle on the Denali low beam? i thought that stock had to different size bulbs?

Finally! i got them done...heres the problem that i was having.....There is a small wiring harness that goes from your stock low beam(9006) with an end that fits the 9005 needed to go into the Denali low beam...the guy had giving them to me and i forgot i had them...UHHHH..could have saved myself some time...good thing to know though is that for yall that buy OEM Denali projectors, make sure that you get that little wire adapter...and yes the light projection sucks i think..im gonna have to get some better bulbs or just fork over the money for some HID's.

Do it. I did the Denali projectors, HIDS in the Highs, Lows, and Fogs. All on mod. LOVIN IT :D

I have gotten the high beams since this pic and figured out the all on mod.

HID's....Nothing better...

Get a set of 4300 or 5000's. I wouldnt go above 6000's because you're gonna get toward the blue spectrum and you'll be losing light the higher the number you go. 4300's or 5000's (some websites call them the same) are pure white and put out 3x what standard halogen bulbs to.

You've just been given the memo. All the cool kids have HID's. We all got the memo. Now, I've just passed it on to you. :D

Here's a Copy & Paste from another site regarding HID's in the Denali Projectors:

Now I know this is a hot topic - Some people swear up and down when it comes to A) The legality of this mod, B) The quality of components used and C) The design of the OEM headlight projector housing is not intended for HID Lamps.

Great, well with that said, I went ahead and decided to give it a shot anyway.

I went with a 6000K 9005 bulb plug and play kit. (they came wired reverse polarity, took 2 seconds to swap the connection) The one thing i've noticed about ALL the kits on ebay, with a few exceptions - you can pay anywhere between $50 to $200+ for a HID setup... and they're all EXACTLY the same, with different stickers.

I paid next to nothing for these, and they've been working perfectly. I didn't want to go balls out with a retro, just wanted to try these and see how they'd work. Found out... They're awesome.

I aligned my headlights, had some friends take a few rides past me on a dark unlit road, complete with straightaways and hills, and determined the proper aiming with zero glare! Don't wanna be one of those idiots out there that blasts you, not to mention attract attention from the Police!

Installation took all of 10 minutes. The hardest part was finding a place to mount the ballast! I used the fender wall on the right side and the electrical box on the left. The only thing I had to do extra was swap the red/black wires in the weatherpack connector shown in the last pic - some cars must use reversed polarity, etc. Once that was swapped, plugged it all in, corked the bulb in the stock housing and... Done. I wish my camera could take better night pictures, the overall look is incredible!

Scotty, great work on the photos. I hate to tell you guys but ebay links are not allowed. I had to pm the 3000 people that wanted the link to where I got mine from because we do have vendors here who sell HID kits. Its direct competition to them. Ebay isnt fitting the bill for this forum. Our vendors are....

Thanks for understanding.

Damn Nick. Sorry about that. I'll take that as my "Strike 1".
I guess I'll just say that the HID's can be found real cheap on a non supporting vendors site. ;)

Thanks for understanding Scotty.

Ebay does have some good kits. I've had great luck with the kit for my truck with the low and highbeams.

I chose a different seller for my Ford and a bulb (or ballast, not sure) already burned out. I have less than 5hrs on this kit and it kinda pisses me off.

I'm tryin to decide if I wanna go 3000k for my fogs or stay with 4300 to match the rest.

Also, thats kind of an awkward place to mount the ballast.

I agree, that does look like an awkward place to mount the ballast on the driver side. That isn't my installation. I just quoted another post. I never got pictures of mine. I found a nice spot on the side of the rad support on each side.

I did the hi and lo hid kit no projectors it too some adjusting of the lights but they are great. I put the low ballasts behind the parking lights and the hi ballasts on the side of the fan shroud. Great fitment. and the all on mod is wonderful as well.
