I have an AMSOIL Filter that is guaranteed for 25k miles. Do you guys think I can get away with changing only my oil at every 10k without changing the filter? I'm running Valvoline Premium Blue.

Not recommended. If you change oil, should change filter too:)

Run Amsoil oil as well and keep it in for 25k and its all good, less changes and better for the motor

How is it better for the motor? I like the thought of running 25K, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it:D

I run Valvoline Premium blue as well and I was doing it at 7500 miles increments but I burn too much so back to 5000 miles it is for me.

if you are going to run the amsoil filters, run amsoil oil with it, otherwise you are not seeing the full benefits and its a waste in my opinion

Of course I would agree to run AMSOIL:) , but you would still get the benefit of the better filtration of an Ea filter with any oil.

however i don't recommend mixing and matching oil and filter brands. this is my own opinion though

Blue freaking blazes. Can Amsoil along with the Amsoil EaO filter go 25K miles? Yes, as long as there isn't an outside contamination that would compromise the normal degradation of the oil.

Amsoil's blanket phrase of "you can go 25K miles on Amsoil oil with an Amsoil filter" chaps my ass. It's misleading marketing.

At 10K miles, I'd highly recommend taking a sample of the oil and getting an analysis run to CONFIRM that there are no ouside factors that would make the oil exhaust itself faster than the 25K mile Amsoil recommended interval. Sorry for the rant, but Amsoil should really be more specific on the 25K mile interval thing.

yep: I agree with him somewhat .10 k oil sample then if ok change the eo filter and keep going ,and I believe amsoil states eo filter should be changed @ man.recommended or one year interval ,dont remember the filter being extended like the oil ,just better filtration so oil can go farther......no rant just my .02

Re: Mixing oil and filter brands.. This is a classic Apples & Oranges discussion. The manufacturer of an oil filter has no relationship to an oil. The Amsoil EaO oil filter is a superb oil filter that will provide optimal filtration of *any* oil, mineral or synthetic, irrespective of brand...

Right now I am running Amsoil 5w-40 and an EaO filter. I'm not sure I'll take it past 10,000 miles though. I'm thinking I'll get an analysis done at 10,000 and see how it looks. I don't pull much and only put on about 15,000 miles a year, so maybe it will last me a full year. I'm also using Amsoil with the EaO in my wife's suburban and she puts on a lot more miles than I do, so I'll give that one an analysis first.

otto: It brings a smile to our face when we get to give good news to new customers. We have only good things
to say about your Duramax at 32,228 miles. Wear read normally and in the proper balance, which indicates that your
engine is operated and maintained well. Universal averages are based on an oil run of ~6,400 miles. No harmful
contaminants were found and the air and oil filters (silicon and insolubles) are working well. The TBN was strong at 8.1
so you had plenty of active additive left. 1.0 is low. Try 10,000 miles next time. It shouldn't be a problem

The above is part of a UOA from Blackstone. I had 9,000 mi on Amsoil 15w-40w and used their EAO52 filter. Insolubles were at 0.2%. I plan to go 12,000 and do another OA this time as the oil was changed out when this UOA was done

For what it is worth, this is what it says in the EaO. Note: the 1 year clause also and also the oil analysis in the oil description. So all of you are correct doing the 10k Oil Analysis is good if you want to run it longer. Besides you will know the condition of the engine just in case something happened. You can use it with other oil but Amsoil is not going to warrant it. Please read it carefully.

EaO Service Life
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are guaranteed for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, when used in conjunction with AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil. AMSOIL recommends changing the oil filter at the time of oil change.

If used in conjunction with AMSOIL Motor Oil that is being changed at intervals less than 25,000 miles, the EaO Filter should be changed at the same time. AMSOIL EaO Filters are not guaranteed for 25,000 miles when used with any oil other than AMSOIL Motor Oil and should be changed according to vehicle OEM recommendations.
