: DPF in storage!!!!
2thdr 01-24-2008, 10:59 AM DPF went bye bye last night! Installed 4" MBRP, and PPE Hot+2e.t. race took care of the codes. Tonight I'll install the probe for my Insight monitor and I'll have a real diesel again. Anyone else notice a faint grinding sound from the turbo when shutting the engine down?
Thanks to Chad at Alligator Diesel great customer service and knowledge.
awesome man! i cant wait to get rid of my DPF. have you experienced an increase in power like some of the others have mentioned?
MMLMM 01-24-2008, 03:04 PM Awesome! My DPF will get tossed soon to. After running PPE's level 6 the DPF did not like that, haha. Don't forget to change your sig now.
Are you in Vegas? I am, Chads been a big help with my LMM too.
2thdr 01-24-2008, 03:15 PM Awesome! Mines coming off soon too. After PPE's level 6 the DPF did not like that, haha. Don't forget to change your sig now.

I have the programmer set on level three right now. I would say it is faster than my lb7 set on level 4 on my juice w/ attitude. It is very impressive!!!:D I'm in Kansas, just found Alligator Diesel through DP.

slight grinding noise tht dosent sound good
2thdr 01-24-2008, 10:21 PM slight grinding noise tht dosent sound good
It is more of a vaccum noise. It didn't do it before I installed the exhaust. Is this not normal when deleting the dpf?
comet07 01-24-2008, 10:31 PM could you be describing a noise you hear through the exhaust or through the engine compartment?

Like a bubbling steamer. It comes from the engine when I shut it off.
comet07 01-24-2008, 10:47 PM There is an air gate that closes on these trucks after shut-off. It is set to close after 3 secs. You might hear it cycle a couple times every time you shut down.

No I'm familiar with that sound. Apparently your truck doesn't make the same noise. I know if I put the stock exhaust back on the sound would go away.
comet07 01-24-2008, 11:06 PM What does the exhaust sound like w/the ppe dpf delete? Is there a hissing noise, or is it more like a big block rumble? I had to change the turbo vane angle w/ EFI live to give mine a nice sound. Just wondering...

Very noticeable hiss.

Yes i have the same noise that you are talking about and when i took off my DPF/cat/muff i asked the same question. But the noise is hard to describe i know what you are talking about. I think it is normal

Thanks Jay, did you get your PPE installed and troubles remedied yet?
overkilljayf 01-25-2008, 12:32 PM Thanks Jay, did you get your PPE installed and troubles remedied yet?
Yes got everything taken care of. I have had no problems with the PPE DPF delete program other than to much power. But that is what i wanted and now the trans is slipping time for a sun coast.:D
cuffnup 01-25-2008, 01:35 PM grinding noise cant be good...also putting on the old exhaust to see if it will stop..also not fun
scottd1022 01-25-2008, 02:02 PM I put my exhaust with DPF delete and PPE HOT2l ast night, and everything is fine no problems.

It isn't really a grinding noise. It is sort of hard to describe. I really think it is normal. Just turbo winding down. I'm just not used to it. Everything is working really well. I can already tell my fuel milage has improved! I drove about 80 miles today. Oh, and I really hope you don't honestly believe I meant that I was going to replace my stock exhaust just to see if it went away. I don't have that kind of energy!:duh:
hookdOnDmax 01-25-2008, 08:40 PM Yes got everything taken care of. I have had no problems with the PPE DPF delete program ... too much power.

HOLY CRAP, BATMAN~!!!! :wtf1:
Your 2007.5 LMM Allison is already slipping to the extent that you're ready for a SunCoast ??? :Nonono:
There's my perfect justification for buying the cheaper Qz-Stealth . . .
and for holding down the pump to a maximum of +50, maybe +70 ~~!
newguy2diesel 01-26-2008, 11:52 AM i think your hearing the turbo blowing back, mine does it now that i have straight pipe. its almost like when you let off the throttle the turbo sucks in air.
overkilljayf 01-26-2008, 01:18 PM Its kind of like a gurgling sound like boiling water but louder.

No problem, I just thought that was funny. Fire upgraded his tranny while his plates were still in-transits.:D No reason to take offense. I agree with you.
NelsonDiesel 01-27-2008, 08:29 PM FIRE, put your dpf back on, plates on and be a good californian  Geez.
capflya 01-27-2008, 08:55 PM I just have one question... Is somebody going to start a Socal no smoke? :D
WAREAGLEDIESEL 02-16-2008, 01:10 PM Hey guys, Im new to diesel and kinda scared of the LMM. I want to delete the dpf but, I dont want to have the same problems some of the guys on this site have had. Right now I am kinda leaning towards a PPE "off-road" programmer w/ a 5" exhaust. So... here are my questions: What kind of problems if any, have you had running your programmers with the dfp delete (Qz, PPE), how much improvement in HP, MPG and sound have you seen during normal driving, And final, How much does your truck smoke now. (Im not a tree hugger but, I dont believe in pissing away the environment either).
Thanks for any help you guys can give me!!
