Situation: on freeway, OAT 19 deg "F", 80 mph, 2150 rpm, oil @ approx 75psi, h20 @ 180, tranny @ 110? or a little more, volts in normal range(14+), went to select "cruise control on" got the SES ( -:t Censored )as soon as "green indicator" came on and cruise set. I have an LB7 no prior problems. engapears to be running ok.. noticed no miss, or other eng proformance problems. How can I ck codes with out a reader ? do I have something I really need to worry about ?
Only mod I have is Voliant cold air intake and its been on for few months. Thanks for the help in advance :ro) , Billy :o

I moved this thread to the LB7 forum where it belongs.911 forum are for trucks down, not running
Most likely reason you have a SES light and the code will be a Mass Air sensor out of range do to your Air intake system.
I still occasionally get one also, different intake system.

Sorry.... Kinda paniced and thought worst case. so I could get this because of the intake sys ? even though it has been on (air sys) for 3 or more months? How or should I say Is there a way to ck codes without going to the stealer to be raped ? How do I clear it ? I have been so proud and bostful about the way mmy truck has been.... (3 yrs and running good, knock on wood) that I thought this was serious murphy at work. Thanks for setting me on the right thread mackin, i appreciate all you guys do with this forum and our trucks, Billy

Could be a few reasons.
Dirty Mass Air sensor, clean with a good electronic alcohol base fast drying Non-residue cleaner. The Cold Ambient temps also with a rush of air, hard to say.
A flash tuner or Tech II or equivalent will clear the SES. I guess it can be done at Auto Zone too.
Mine will occasionally still illuminate once and awhile I just clear and it's off for months,no clue. I know that 01's are more prone to this happening and some 02's.
I have swapped Mass Air sensors,I have two,and they both do it.It's a nuisance at the worst never has effected performance.

Cool. We use a residue free electronic cleaner on the aircraft we have so maybe that would do it. Where is the MAS located at exactly ? I'll run to the "ZONE" tonight and see if they can clear it. Thanks very much for your help and patients I do appreciate it. Billy

thank you to all for your patients and help. I had the puter read and had a P0181 code for fuel temp sensor. reset and have 3 days (knock on wood) on it. so far so good. Thanks again,

I set the P0181 code when I use the block heater and have the front grill cover on...there are some threads on the P0181 cod getting set falsely and supposedly a software fix for this as well. Anyway, just some more info for ya.
