I am just gathering info. here for a future tranny fix. But mine seems ok for now and I hope it stays that way.
How hard is it to go from an auto to a nv4500.
Does it matter which nv4500, Dodge/GM
My guess is that it would need to be a gm from the same year or close, in a 4x4.
Thanks.

going with an nv4500 you will want the gm because of the bellhousing bolt pattern, direct bolt in to the 6.2L. not really difficult at all but heres a basic list of parts you would need:
1. 4x4 nv4500
2. clutch master cylinder
3. clutch slave cylinder
4. clutch line
5. clutch kit, order one for a 6.5L with an nv4500
6. manual tranny crossmember or might have to modify one
7. tranny hump from a 4x4 manual truck, blazer, or suburban. or cut your current one
could also go with an sm465, you lose overdrive but even with tall gearing for highway driving the 1st gear more than makes up for it when your out playin in the rocks. my old 81 gmc pickup had a 305 gasser (similar torque #'s to the 6.2L), sm465, np208, 3.08 axle gears and 33" tires, never stalled it when i went rock crawling with it. i was turning about 2100-2200rpm's at 70mph.
