Has anyone replaced their burned out dash lights? I have seen the threads about replacing the bulbs with LEDs, but I just want the normal bulbs. Does anyone know a part number or any other information that will help me locate the bulbs?

If you are going to bother why not go with the LEDs? It will be the last time you ever will have to do it.

I bought some regular bulbs, but they have like a 20,000 hour rating on them. They were $12 for 10 bulbs. I plan on replacing the bulbs in my radio tonight.

This guy is fast and has both bulbs and steppers......I found him on E-Bay

I use Eiko 7219, which are also Radio Shack 272-1092. They appear to be just as reliable, if not more so, as I've been using these in GM radios since 1982. Only one I had to redo was done at 85k miles and the redo at 215k miles.

I agree with Chris.....it looks Sweet and you dont have to get blue or red, you can get a nice bright blue/white color like a 6k hid setup. Just as cheap to do also....

Do they dim correctly? What about bright spots in the illumination? I've seen that on here before.

Well, as far as brightness, to tell you the truth I havent even brought it all the way down to see. I know I took it down a couple notches to dim it down a bit but I wouldnt see why it wouldnt go any more unless its limiting the power too much for the LED's. I really dont have a reason for diming them up and down all the time so I will take a look. About the bright spots, all you have to do is pull the LED's on an angle that follows the overlay instead of sticking straight up towards one spot. I will try and get some vids up of dim feature....but you can see a few pics in my garage of it half done. I have taken care of most bright spots now and other leds so I will get updated pics.

Wow, that looks a ton better with the bright spots all fixed. Did you end up adding a couple extra LED's or just moving the positioning around to take care of the bright spots. I only have a couple small bright spots. left to fix, hardly noticable anymore.

The Speedo, and the Tach have 1 LED on the right side, and 2 LEDs on the left side. I have to take the dash back apart to fix my fuel gauge, so when i get it back apart i will take photos of the Dual LEDs. Only reason i used dual LEDs was for the needles, they were real dim compared to the others. As for the guage lighting though they were fine with 1 LED per side.

Thats what I thought, seems my orange ones light up pretty decent though. Im still trying to find some smaller leds to fit in everything elso, got some done but need some smaller ones. I hate trying to find smaller ones and putting in bigger resistors kinda dosent matter what size I guess.

All of mine are 5mm LEDs. I found that the orange needs light easier then the white needles. Like i said i was gettin really dim needles on speedo and tach. that was the reason for the second LED

yeah, i meant for the other parts of the dash, fogs, 4x4 etc that will "match" my cluster ones... Looks good man

You can buy the leds anywhere really, ebay is a good place or you can get some from Radio Shack or something if you really want. The "resignators" you mention are actually resistors....;) The job of the resistors is to limit the power to the LED so it dosent go "POOF" ....:D. You need to get a happy median for the resistors so they are specific for your LED's so they limit where you want. You need to desolder the old bulbs and solder in the new ones with the resistors mounted together. If youve never done any work with this stuff it might be kinda tough for yah, but if you like a challenge step right up let us know if you have any questions....good luck

Looks good to me, everything looks a ok....a ton easier with built in resistors but not sure on reliability...never used those kinda leds w/ built in before in my truck so I cant personally say how good they are but im sure they will be fine, you can always fall back on the "old way"....:D . But yes they will work. What color you going with?

White needles for starts and I think if you do your cluster blue, all blue might be too much....im in the process of doing all mine and seeing how they look but I think a lighter bluish white will look good. Those cd players are tricky, i just replaced the one in my work truck also becasue I fried the screens, ohh, well I guess you gotta learn somehow...:D I think I would stick with an aftermarket one if you ask me....

Check out US speedo and other companies like that for the needles. As for your buddies Dodge, I dont see why it wouldnt work.....it is a dodge though....;) Take the cluster out of it and do a little looking, should be just as easy...dont take my word cause I dont know a darn thing about em but they shouldnt be any different, just positioning....

I went with all red; I'm going to go with red cluster with probably white needles.

Your best bet on the headunit is to buy a whole new one on fleabay; they go for $50~ ea all the time..

No problem. I'll have to get some pics together of the whole thing when I've got the cluster done...

I replaced all of mine in my 03 with the Radio Shack bulbs and they look great. The old ones seem to glow yellow compared to the new ones. It's not hard to do really, it just takes some patience. The only problem I had was when I attempted to dismantle the heat/cool controls, I pulled on the slide buttons and broke the sweep resistor assembly below it. I had to buy a used heat/cool control and broke one on it again!!! I then replaced the sweep resistor from the original board, the bulbs and now all is good. Good luck.

I have several lights out on the dash (lower lefthand side; fog lights, etc.) and most likely will go with the LED's like it was said here, but how hard is it to replace the radio controls on the wheel? My volume and seek buttons are dark at night and so is the scroll for the DIC on the wheel too. Is this something I could do on my own?

I was wondering about steering wheel buttons as well.

Is there a blue bulb that I can replace the stockers with so they light up blue? Same with the dash lights, is it possible to change them out to a blue bulb. Or is LED's really the only way to getting a different color.

I have read somewhere that it is very possible but cant remember what thread, you just need to pull off the arm covers on the wheel itself if I believe. I am working on everything else when I have a spare second so I might look at that also and let you guys know. I believe if Shulte has steering controls, he will already have it done so maybe he will tune in....:D
