: upgraded to level 4 from level 2, threw suncoast
fredw 01-07-2005, 05:21 PM talked to joe this morning, about where i am and where i want to go for hp, i am currently at level two, and am noticing a bit of a surge in rpm after just entering 5th, joe thinks level two is at its end of its range and i should look at the level 4 instead of three, he says level 3 will be good for 500 hp and should not go past the 600 range, has seen problems after that, but with the level 4 which is the same as the level five, (complete level 4 but done in their shop with warrenty), as for the hp for level 4, he says everything he can throw at it, as for the price, it will cost me 1200 dollars to bout, having the tripple lock and trans go allready installed, he said their is better cleaner shifts with the level 4 over the others but still ok enought to pull a trailer, kits will be made next sent out next week, keep you informed
BIGBLOCKBILL 01-07-2005, 05:30 PM Congrats on the upgrade:D ,I should have my Suncoast stage V in and running by Monday as long as my buddy comes through with a Tech II. From what Joe said it will take just about anything I can throw at it. Keep us updated.

PEANUTGRWR 01-07-2005, 11:33 PM Hmmmmmmm Sounds Good Then Allitech Ill Be Calling
GMC-2002-Dmax 01-08-2005, 03:14 PM I have one of them kits coming already.. will install in my truck .....finally.When I inquired about a Level V kit which I understand is what Suncoast is offering now basically, I was told things needed to be machined to truly get the Level 5 results and they were in house mod's only.
One would have to assume that more than one core charge applies now........and is the rotating assembly a Suncoast Rebuild and a complete swap with the TC now as well........if so it should make the tranny a snap to rebuild as most of the time is spent on C1 & C2 on reassembly..........
Can you elaborate on the specific changes or is it area 51 stuff ?????
I look forward to hearing more about this upgrade.

BassinRVer 01-10-2005, 09:03 AM If I understand you correctly, Joe is going to be charging $1200 to go from L2 to L4 equipment? I am in the same boat as you, I have SC Triple Lock Convertor and Trango kit. I am getting the urge for more power, 700HP range. So all I'll have pay is just another $1200 for parts to get to Level 4?
dmaxalliTech 01-10-2005, 10:58 AM I cant answer all the question yet. I do know that the new stuff will not include the billet apply pistons the LV uses. Like Tony said, must be machined in house. I will post all info as soon as I find out. Also will have pricing info too..
BassinRVer 01-10-2005, 11:14 AM Just ordered the kit, S4 clutch kit, c3 and c4 pistons, $100 core charge and $50 shipping comes to $1350. Now if Eric can just tell how and what pieces need to be machine, we'll have a Stage V.
BassinRVer 01-10-2005, 01:58 PM Fredw,
Itried responding to your PM but it says you're full.
fredw 01-10-2005, 11:23 PM ya i will clean some emails out tonight
GMC-2002-Dmax 01-10-2005, 11:44 PM Just ordered the kit, S4 clutch kit, c3 and c4 pistons, $100 core charge and $50 shipping comes to $1350. Now if Eric can just tell how and what pieces need to be machine, we'll have a Stage V.The Stage III kit I got in July from Suncoast came with the Triple Disk TC- New Single Sided C1's, New C2's, C3's and C4's with the transgo kit, and the Line Pressure Boost valve for 170 or 190 psi.
It also had a machined down C3 apply piston for the added clutch and the C4 apply piston was re-used with the kit with I beleive one added to C4 as well.
I am wondering what the $100 core charge is for and what the actual cost difference from a Stage III to a Stage IV is.........and what does the Stage-IV improve upon.
Stage II from the web site:
This kit consist of our triple disc torque converter, Transgo ® Allison shift kit, C-1,C-2, & C-3 OEM style frictions and steels along with the sump filter and spin-on filter.
This kit gives you or your technician everything you need for a moderate power level upgrade.
The cost is $1695.00 plus freight.
Stage III from the web site:
This Stage III kit will allow you to upgrade your Allison to the 500+ HP level. This kit contains our triple disc torque converter, Transgo ® shift kit, boost modifier valve, C-1 power pak with 16 friction elements, C-2 power pak with 15 friction elements using Kolene steels, C-3 power pak with 9 friction elements (Kolene steels),
C-4 power pak with 11 friction elements (Kolene steels) This kit increases clutch capacity over 60% and includes billet apply plates for C-1 & C-2 clutch packs, sump filter, and spin-on filter.
The cost is $2195.00 plus freight.
So the actual parts difference from a Stage II to a Stage III is the Alto clutch packs/Kolene steels and the boost modifer valve.
So that gets us to $575.00 for the clutches and $96.00 for the boost valve.
What costs an extra $550 or so dollars for a Stage IV ????????
Not knocking the Suncoast as I have one and like it a lot, just trying to see if I need the upgrade and if it's worth tearing into the tranny again.......I will be well over 500~HP easy once the NOS goes in.......I believe I am close to that on # 2 only right now.......:D
Keep us up to speed.

I may have not listed all the part from Stage II to Stage IV. The core of $100 is for the two pistons.
dmaxalliTech 01-11-2005, 04:59 PM see my post on the new L IV kit....
BassinRVer 01-12-2005, 01:07 PM Just ordered the kit, S4 clutch kit, c3 and c4 pistons, $100 core charge and $50 shipping comes to $1350. Now if Eric can just tell how and what pieces need to be machine, we'll have a Stage V.
Just got of the phone with Joe and he assures me that for the people wanting to go from Leve II to Level IV that $1200 is the price you pay to get ALL the hardware to get to Level IV from Level II. As mentioned before there are core charges and shipping to be added to the $1200.
Joe is overwhelmed with phone calls so if you have questions please ask here or wait to see if his web page answers your questions when they have the Level IV in kit form on their page.
gmccall 01-13-2005, 01:45 PM looks like competition is a coming to my area.....
