I heard that the mbrp xp series exhaust will show surface rust. has anyone had this problem? the xp series is stanless steel so i thought it didnt rust or have surface rust because i have a stainless exhaust on my 6.5 and it dosent have any surface rust.

My 409 stainless has lots of surface rust. Nothing appears to be rusting through, though. This is the second winter that I have had it on, and road salt is taking its toll.

409 stainless has a minor "corrosion" that is similar to rust. Nothing to be worried about. It will still outlast aluminized steel.

T409 will develop some surface rust, but will not rust through. They actually have a lifetime warranty now. If you dont want rust, T304 is the only way to go.

living north of boston takes its toll..... should i get 409 stainless or aluminized steel when i buy a new 5" mbrp system. i read somewhere on here aluminzed has worked better (3+ years vs. 1 on SS untill rust shows on exhaust)

is it bad like the whole pipe is rust color or just a few little spots. any pics?

These Edelbrock headers that were on my last truck were 409 stainless. This is how they always looked (after the paint burned off).

I've had mine on for a few years, and even living in Phoenix it is pretty rusty.
