akdiesel 01-07-2005, 06:30 AM Corwin,
I don't mean to insult your need for information, but if you really want to get a truck that YOU like yourself you will need to get out there and test drive them for your self. It is sort of fun to get into a truck that you have never driven before and see how it will handle.
The information that you did get from the last survey you started I feel should have given you all the info you should need to make up you mind if that is what you are looking for. But like was stating before is that these replies are from other individuals and you are going to get a lot if not all biased replies. It is your money and you have no one else to blame for your purchases if it does not pan out the way you expected it to. There will always be lemons of every car manufacture out there.
The majority of the people on these forums are very happy with the truck they bought. And yes there are some bad comments on these trucks that owners make, but you can not make everyone happy.
And there is the comment that "The grass is always greener". The reason I put that in there is because your new survey is only for 2001 and newer trucks. There are plenty of owners of old trucks out there that have enough money to buy new but chose not to because the trucks they have now works just fine for them. There are less electronics and less plastic. And that seems to be the major b!tching complaint from the newer truck owners.
GMC2500HD 01-07-2005, 10:26 AM TROLL!!! Censored
dmaxfan 01-07-2005, 10:39 AM TROLL!!! Censored He is not a troll. He has posted this same question on the highlifter site and others. He just wants to know what is the best before he spends that much money.
dmaxfan 01-07-2005, 10:45 AM The best thing that you can do, Corwin, is to do what akdiesel said. Don't buy one that your buddy's like or anyone else for that matter, buy one that YOU like.
Rich H. 01-07-2005, 02:30 PM I wish I had this group of people to talk to before I ordered my 1994 K3500 6.5 turbo diesel back in Dec.1993.
The one that I test drove was nice, EMPTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mine came in Dec.30th 1993, drove it for about 500 miles before I hooked up to a fith wheel trailer, only to find out that I had the slowest diesel on the road.
I drove with my foot on the floor all the time with the trailer on, still got passed by Fords,& Dodges.
Injector went out at 24,000 miles, heads, motor at 94,000 miles, computer at 96,000 miles ran bad off & on for the next 2,000 miles until I could get rid of it and go back to gas motor. (New 1999 454 K3500) Back out front again.
Wife said that if I ever buy a GM diesel again, she would move out.
So I had to wait a long time and read items from a place like this before I would try a GM diesel again.
So I do not blame Corwin for asking all the questions in the world before going thru hell on his own. PS. I even tried a couple Fords before I bought mine 04.
aka108 01-07-2005, 07:17 PM Re quality and all. You can, with luck, get one of any make that just went together well during assembly and all the sub-contracted parts are good as well. Then you can get one, again any make, and it will be a lemon that never gets right. I've never had any luck with MoPar's and the GM products have been pretty good to me. My Son wouldn't own GM and loves Dodges for the same reason. We have some interesting conversations sometimes. My old Ford has a mind of its own.
jcummins 01-07-2005, 07:23 PM My firewall tripped cookies when I went there, I blocked, resulting in nothing to see. Don't need no survey putting cookies on my pc.
JJs DuMax 01-07-2005, 07:31 PM All good points! Corwin, you can poll to your hearts content and end up with too much information. AKD probably gave you the best advice: GET OUT THERE AND DRIVE BROTHER! :D
Most of us did a lot of research like you are doing before buying our trucks. LB7's had injector problems, 6.0's were throwing rods, Cummins was tearing up tranny's. None of these machines is without sin! For every GM horror story there is a Ford horror story, and for every Ford there is a Dodge, etc., etc., etc.! -:t
Bottom line is to buy what will meet your needs. If you are going to work it hard then payload capacity, drivetrain, and GVWR/GCWR should be high on your list. If you will use the truck mostly as a commuter with occasional towing or heavy work you might choose creature comfort and ride over the above. Whatever floats your boat dude! Happy Shopping! JJ :)
Rich H. 01-07-2005, 09:26 PM They are right about some good & some bad in all of the trucks, Just find someone that has one Or dealer, then test it out as you would plan to use it.
Best of luck.
Corwin 01-07-2005, 11:19 PM Have updated survey with three more questions
Where you reside US or Canada
Cold climate feedback question
And what brand of diesel truck would you buy next time around
People who have completed survey already can go back and add responses to these questions, and their previous responses will still stay as they where.

Thanks
And this will be last survey, and will leave everyone alone after this one
Except for questions in future on my truck, once I get off the fence and decide on one.
I'm curious to know what you end up deciding and what will be the factors that sway you to a specific brand over the others.
Corwin 01-11-2005, 02:26 AM Had a couple email me and told me survey was not working.
Survey should be working now if you have not put your own feedback in yet, totally my mistake that it didn't work for a bit there SORRY made a booboo
