: SunCoast Installer on Long Island or NYC Area??
Mad Maxx 01-21-2008, 10:02 PM Does anyone know of a good reliable SunCoast Installer on Long Island or the NYC area?
I don't wanna drive far to get it done, but I would like to have it done before summer gets here.
I want to get the SC V. I looked on their site, and it's going for $38xx. Now is that a whole new Tranny, or just the parts and I gotta get them installed in my current Tranny? And does that price include a Converter or do I have to buy that extra?
rgullett83 01-21-2008, 10:14 PM Suncoast Stage V is a built tranny ready to be installed minus the converter, thats extra.
minisub 01-21-2008, 10:33 PM There was a Diesel Performance shop in Coram that I was aware of not too long ago (Long Island was in the name I think). I've never done any business with them, and don't know if they are/were just parts pushers, but if you can find them, they might know of some good shops to do the swap for you.
rpidelt 01-22-2008, 06:49 AM I know you said you don't want to drive too far but Matt at Champion Transmission in West Haven, CT does great work. He's a vendor on here and has done several Suncoast transmissions for members here including myself.
stacks04 01-22-2008, 08:53 AM x2 on the champion trans. he did mine and very satisfied. hop on the ferry and come on over.
as far as the trans the v is an assembly, sold with out the converter. it must be purchased sep.
Mad Maxx 01-22-2008, 08:22 PM I'm selling my old car this weekend, and hopefully selling one of my quads soon as well, so that should get me enough money to be able to afford the SC V and a little bit will have to come out of my pocket for the Converter.
But since it will come fully built, pretty much ANY Tranny shop will be able to put it in right? Heck, even if I feel brave enough, I'd be able to do it in the Driveway with the right tools right?
rpidelt 01-22-2008, 08:33 PM Just don't forget about the shipping from FL and back for the transmission and the $1200 for the converter when you total up all the cost. IIRC a SC V ends up costing about $6000 while a SC IV is about $4500.
I'd still let a guy familiar with our trucks do the swap.
Mad Maxx 01-22-2008, 10:38 PM Yea, that price really flies up there quick, I knew about the shipping being a factor, but I guess it slipped my mind.
So then the price shown for the SC IV is for the "kit" AND the Converter? Do I get my choice of what Converter I want to run? Yes, right?
Typically the job can be completed in 1 day right? Get there early in the morning and I'll be on the road in the evening?
