this question is for people that have bent rods- how do you know they are bent? and what are the simptoms of bent rods? cold starting, white smoke? its been like 8* here and the truck smokes white on startup and stays like that for a while, not huge clouds but lingers by the back of the truck; and its got me worried after a few dyno runs on sat.

don't waste your time with a compression test........that is mis-leading. This subject came up the other day.........bottom line is that it's hard to tell for sure w/o lifting the head.
The first thing is to use your predator and check I.A.H. , glow plugs, baro. press., map., maf., etc, etc.
If all that looks good then ..............join the club!!:D:D

In all seriousness when we have had bent(shorten) rods it has smoked white pretty heavily.

What did your truck dyno at?

it dynoed at 453hp and 911tq- it was a first diesel dyno day at motor city steel in mich, the dyno was off by 10%(reading low, mustang dyno) so if i add 10% it is 498hp and 1002tq, exactly what is advertized by tony martino (moonshine tuning)

stock injectors,single lbz cp3 pump, and a 500hp tune

With that amount of hp you don't need to worry about bent rods.
